I think that there should be puddles, but instead of them filling in holes they would fill in the top layer of pixels.
Imagine how whenever you farm grass the block drops down one pixel level, well what if after a long rain a very small amount of dirt block would drop the top layer and fill with water. This water would dry up after being in the sun for just a few minutes, but the water could be collected in a bucket if gotten in time. Something I have been thinking about recently.

So like a thin layer of snow? I like this, but it would look strange on the border of things, and the only way to make it look normal is to incorporate finite water into Minecraft, and I'm against that.

It would be like snow, but instead of stacking on top of the block, the top layer of the block sinks in like farmland, and then water fills it in.

Sometimes it rains for 1-3 days solid, this is when we might get bigger holes/even deeper holes filled with water

Curse PremiumYeah, I could've sworn notch said 1x1 holes will fill with water after a steady rain...
BUCKETS, you could probaly scoop out the water, that or get a block of dirt and temporally place it over it
Haven't you heard? Apparently saying stuff like that is a warnable offence. It's a sticky.
Personally, I wouldn't want this. Imo it would look really quite ugly.
