Howdy. As you know, when you try to chop a tree or mine anything related to stone, you swing like you're on steroids and crack at the same time and mining. As we all know, you shouldn't mine on drugs and this needs to be changed.
Here's my proposal. Instead of hitting it like you're a drug addict, you swing once per half second. Depending on the tool you used, the block would crack a certain amount. So, say you're mining coal with a wooden pickaxe. It would take at least three hits to mine, making it one and a half seconds long. I do realize that this will slow down resource gathering and mining by a colossal amount, but it would make the game much more realistic, and Markus is trying to add more realism to the game. I think it would be a great idea.
So what do you guys think? If you like it, remember to leave feedback!
They should leave the amount of time it takes to break each block the same, and alter the number of swings to compensate. That way you'd swing slower and more realistically, but without reducing resource-gathering time.

Fast = the current whamwhamwhamwham BREAK! we have.
Slow = wham... wham... wham... BREAK!
If there was no speed difference, I'd say sure.
