I have seen several suggestions for making axes a feasible weapon, but all they seem to suggest is a sword that is more expensive and does more damage.
This is a completely new suggestion. It suggests an entirely new way of upgrading axe that makes them more balanced than in previous suggestions.
First of all, we must go over their behavior. This is what makes them unique.
When an axe is equipped, it appears in your hand just like it currently does. Left clicking does the same damage is does now, except this suggestion asks that it doesn't lose double durability when hitting something. Left clicking does the axes current tool use and attack.
Right clicking, however, does something entirely different. It slows you to crouch speed, makes it impossible to jump, and also does this:
Remember the mouse smoothing that would turn in when you pressed F8? Well, imagine that your regular view remained normal, and an invisible cursor showed up that the axe pointed at.
This is how the right click attack works. The faster the axe is moving, the more damage it does.
Please give me feedback on this, and let me know what you think!
...What are you talking about? English please. This is suggesting an entirely new way to use a weapon. What it seems you have said is that you should be able to 1-shot a mob by cracking its skull.
That is overpowered and would render sword useless.
Could i please get feedback here? I think that this could be a brand new way of using weapons. This same system could also be applied to warhammers, if they are added.
It's cute, but I can imagine some script kiddies would screw their mouse sensitivity to ungodly levels and simply go tornado mode in a dangerous cave or stronghold.

Just because people can use and abuse doesn't mean it shouldn't be implemented. It's like a cheat code, don't change your sensitivity to ungodly levels and it won't affect you, apart from in multiplayer where bows reign supreme anyway.
I think this would be awesome if I am understanding this right but.. Not for axes. Hammers and maces and even flails, but not axes.
The thing I don't understand is:
Does that mean if the cursor passed over a mob, damage would be applied depending on the speed of the axe swing?
Great idea, I'd be glad if this got implemented even with axes, but I'd rather it with a flail.
Heres a better example:
Stand up, let your arm go limp, then swivel your waist very quickly. The axe would move similarly to how your arm moves. When the axe hits something, it's speed would calculate damage.

Exactly.
Although, bows don't reign supreme unless you practice a lot. They are a lot harder to use now at longer ranges.

Useless and redundant. we have bows.
