In many games, you are allowed to customize your starting clothes and features, to make yourself an 'individual' and 'unique'.
However this is flawed by the idea that once you get your first upgrade in armor/weapons, it hides/replaces your customized starting gear/clothes and thus negating the concept of customizing.
So I've noticed that people love to change the 'skin' default to more creative things.
Also armor is helpful in many situations but people don't like wearing it because it covers their customization and makes everyone a 'clone'.
Thus I would enjoy the option to not show armor on your 3rd person avatar while wearing it. It can show up on your inventory screen sure, but not in 3rd person.
however sometimes people like it to show, as either 'part' of their outfit, or just their own unique 'RP'. So an option setting, to either 'show' or 'not show' armor as you don it.
Addendum:
even a function to show each piece separately would be nice. Helmet, Cuirass, Leggings, Boots - option for each.

I really like that idea. like you need a wardrobe that you can change your clothes. and you can make files like tshirt_Monster or something. that would be awesome.nice ideea!
The problem with that, is that armor appearance is texture pack dependent, whereas skin texture, is universally seen the same for that player. It's pretty much pointless altering the armor sets textures to look like something completely different, then logging on a server and people seeing you in the default armors since they wouldn't also have the same textures.
I'll have to agree with the OP, it'd be nice to have the option to hide armor so we can see our skins when playing multiplayer and such, but still get the bonus of wearing it.
