Basically, natural raw materials such as , , , and should be destroyed with tools slightly faster.
's , , , and all other blocks should remain the same. (Maybe ores' blast resistance should actually be increased a bit to make up for this)
Reason for this? Digging huge tunnels for cobblestone, and digging for sand takes a LOT of time. Even with a stack of cobblestone you can't build like anything at all. I play vanilla only on my server and stacks of anything take time to accumulate. Building a fortress can take months. I don't think building projects should be easy, I'm not even complaining about how long it takes to build huge things without commands.
The problem for me is that grinding for materials can be rather boring. Increasing the speed at which one digs and mines even SLIGHTLY would make a huge difference in beneficial and creative gameplay aspect due to the fact that someone can spend hours just digging stone.
Got to agree on some points, To me, grass, dirt, and gravel should always be .1 seconds with a tool. Shovels seem to be more about durability than speed, kind of like hoes.

I want to agree and I want to disagree
I agree as I am flantening an area in my world, but its slow removing all the dam tree's n such in my path I hat eusing diamond tools which hacked in with invincability but I dont really have much choice, and I mean ITS DIRT god forsaken ITS DIRT how hard is it to dig DIRT I cant punch down trees yet it takes me forever to dig DIRT?

I can definitely see where you're coming from though. As much as we all like the idea of "earning" what we've made, grinding isn't fun.

So because of that I see no need for this idea. If you don't wanna spend the time to get these blocks just use toomanyitems or some thing.
