I have a couple suggestions that go together under the category of landscape!
Sloping Ravines
There's not really much you can do with ravines. They cut through rock, that's about it.
Ravines could be made just a tiny bit more fun if they had some sort of elevation change with them. The bottoms of Ravines are always flat (although not perfectly so), and I find that incredibly boring. Just by making it slope downward, even if the total elevation change is only 20 blocks, it'd be a lot more exciting, and it'd probably feel more natural. The only downside to this is that they'd inevitably turn into a gigantic waterfall because of random natural springs. Although, they could have natural depressions in them regularly, to catch water. Depressions naturally erode in stone from running water anyways.
Gulches
Gulches could just be a more shallow, surface-version of ravines. Only 20ish blocks deep, it'd be nice to have a small chasm on the surface. They'd have both gravel and water near the bottom usually, as gulches are a product of erosion.
Boulders
Boulders, boulders, boulders! Not too difficult of a concept. I find it strange how there are absolutely zero boulders in Minecraftia. You think there'd be random hunks of rock laying around on the surface, wouldn't you?
Boulders would just be random lumps of regular stone, laying atop dirt. They could range from a simple 2 blocks, to the size of a house in a Village. The larger ones could have deposits of coal or iron in them, so it may be worthwhile to crack one of these suckers open.
Hell, it may even work out for a makeshift house. Find a big boulder, and hollow it out. Bam! Nice house.
Gravel Beds
This isn't a new feature, but simply an old one. I miss gravel beds, they were nice. Small, random patches of gravel, usually in a neat little hole. It gave Minecraft a more natural feel, and they're kind of fun to trick mobs into. Additionally, they could have boulders in them.
Sloping ravines and gulches would be cool.
I think the random stone outcrops, stone plains, and stone mountains we have occasionally are pretty cool but boulders would be cool too.
Gravel beds/gravel beaches, those would be pretty cool.
I miss cliffs, that was my favorite land feature in the demo. :/
the boulders woundn't look right because minecraft is NOT round.
And? Not all boulders are round, only the ones affected by erosion. Freshly dislodged rocks are often irregular and feature jagged, sharp corners. However, I think that they should not appear everywhere, only around rock formations (mountain biome).
I like all the parts of this idea. The gravel beds remind me of the "Bring Back Beaches/Gravel Beaches!" thread.
I'm imagining your avatar saying that while he's flailing around. xD
Anyways, what if they went back to old generation(with new structures+biomes of course)
BUT
Added plateaus also!
There you go, building space. :wink.gif:
Villages would spawn on low plateaus in the places they already do..
Well, while all of these would be nice for specific biomes, I think dunes for deserts would be another interesting addition to natural forming structures.
I really support the slopped ravines. The current ravines are ugly scars on the landscape, both above and under ground. I think they really need to be redone.

I dont have a sig or an avatar. (Except that (V), which is for Science! You monster.) They're like my name. Immaterial.

Honstly i would love boulders since there are alot of round objects already in the game such as snow balls and they would be even better if they could be set up for traps because they would make stronghold exploration just more fun.
Nice ideas. I especially like the bolders because in real life we have boulders. I have a medium sized one in my front yard!(It is kind of a land-marker separating my yard from my neighbors.)

...Oh, but I threw that away last week...
