I have an idea for a new biome for when snow is re-implemented.
The (Epic voice and drumm roll) ARCTIC BIOME!
This new biome would be a hostile environment for seasoned players to explore and attempt to survive.
This biome is like the natural snow biomes EXCEPT!
-There are no trees
-The biome is ALWAYS in a snowstorm
-When in the biome, there is a fog effect, limiting your render distance to small.
-When in the biome, you will gradually lose health if you are in an area with a light level under 7. (To simulate warmth). This effect will not take place if there is a block above you.
Also, in this biome, you will be able to find a new mob, the Polar Bear.
Polar bears are not hostile unless you attack them, however, they hunt all other mobs similar to the way wolves hunt. Killing them rewards you with leather, and occasionally a raw fish.
Speaking of leather, wearing leather armor in an arctic biome will slow the rate at which your health drains. This is because, well, you're wearing extra clothes.
The ground is mostly made of snow BLOCKS and ice blocks. Under about 3-4 layers of snow blocks is the regular minecraft terrain stuff (Dirt, stone, caves, bedrock). Sometimes there will be lakes with ice and false ice blocks (Blocks that look like ice but are non-solid when stepped on). This means you can be walking along and suddenly fall into a lake under a layer of ice.
If you like these ideas and are interested in leaving your own suggestions, please leave a comment.
