It would be cool if you say something then all of the mobs within a certain distance away from the player would respond and maybe they can talk to each other. It doesn't have to be fancy like Cleverbot, it can be something like in Quake 3.
I like this idea. It would be relatively simple to program the mobs to respond to various phrases with phrases of their own. The effort would just be putting in as many responses and possible phrases as possible. :tongue.gif:

I know, mobs will still groan, but they'll respond to the player via text; they don't need to add a text to speech bot (like Microsoft Sam or something) to the mobs.
To all the naysayers: This probably wouldn't be much use for adding to Minecraft itself, but to add to other existing mods to make more immerse adventure maps. Personally, I don't see much of a use for talking to any of the existing mobs, but I would be great to have NPC's that you could strike up a conversation with to continue a story driven map.

I thought it would be cool in vanilla Minecraft just for fun. It doesn't have to have a purpose.
It should work in single player also.
Here's an example of what I'm talking about http://www.cleverbot.com/
They don't have to say words. It could just be text just like when someone talks on multiplayer.
He kind of has a point, I mean what would the chat say?
zombie:mooaann
creeper:hissss
skeleton:click (??)
It doesn't sound that helpful, if not even distractive.
IDC. It would be interesting especially for people who don't like playing multiplayer.
In Quake 3, they only groan, yet they talk.
It shouldn't be limited to agressive mobs either, other mobs (especially NPC villagers) should have it.

I thought it would help to give you guys an example http://www.cleverbot.com/
