Okay, the new Mooshrooms are coming out (Haven't heard?)
and this seems like a biome specific mob.
I say they need more of these.
I don't have many ideas, but I do have 1.
Mountains biome:
Mountain Goats.
These are like sheep but have horns and are hostile.
They run up to you and damage 1 heart per hit.
They also push you back far and are very fast, as fast as the player sprinting.
Have other ideas?
Post them, I'll put them in this original post.
Good Idea!! :biggrin.gif:
I have one idea also:
In the free biome (forest, etc)
There are hawks
They fly as fast as the player walking
if you look at them they pick up the player and fly them up, up to 10 blocks
If you are in mid-air with them holding you up, you can kill them, but you will fall, if you dont kill them, then they take you to their nest, which are on tops of about 25% of trees.
From there they peck you which takes off 2 hearts per peck, they can peck up two twice per second.
You can run but then they will fly after you and end up picking you back up to their nest and starting it all over again.
If you kill them they drop an egg...
It sounds cool... they are triggered by looking at them and looking away, like endermen...
:smile.gif:
Bears in snow biomes, I'll second whales, sandworms (or graboids), crocs(or gators), and maybe biome specific mounts would be fun, camels that run faster on sand, zebra that run faster on plains, elk or moose that run faster on snow, deer that run faster in forests, maybe a big predatory desert land-bird like the elephant bird that runs really fast and stabs you to death, bats, giant bats, walruses, and I'd also make some minor changes to wolves. Like making them aggressive UNLESS you're holding a bone or raw meat whereupon they would react as normal, making them spawn at night and howl. However, the key for making new mobs is that everything needs to serve a function without being too redundant and also avoiding overpopulation. but that's just me being silly. :tongue.gif:
and PANTHERS! I once saw a squid in a waterfall out of the corner of my eye and instinctively thought it was a panther. scared the heck outa me!
I am surprised that Notch doesn't have more biome specific mobs. It is an easily reachable and direct call to make a mob biome specific. Obviously, he planned on having more than there are currently.

Cool, but I don't like the looking part.
I say they should be triggered if you're within 50 blocks of their nest, then they circle you until you get 20 blocks within, THEN attack. They leave if you leave unless they're already hunting you.
Heh. I got one for the mushroom biome. So you're walking around in a mushroom biome, and you hit the stalk of a giant mushroom. The whole thing disappears and you're all like "WTF." So you look behind you and a mushroom looking creature is standing there. It looks like the stalk of a giant mushroom with two legs that look like they're made of the stalks, and the top would have a red or brown cap. It would have some kinda face on the cap.
I dunno what else it could do XD

GOOD!!! I have an idea!
So you're walking your wolf through a mushroom biome, humming a happy tune, not a creeper in sight. You see a purple figure around half your size atop a giant mushroom that has a purple particle effect surrounding its body, like the endermen's but purple around it's body, it has a mushroom for a head, it shoots a purple arrow at you, you get poisoned. It drops a poisonous shards which can be crafted into poisonous arrows. Me and Piggles say yes! :biggrin.gif:

Be caring, please help my dragon hatch by giving him a little click.
Bees
Bees are a new neutral mob that attack only when their hive is attacked. They spawn from Bee Hives in Woods Biomes. Their Bee Hives drop honeycomb which can be used in cooking (Milk and Honey for example).
Unlike other mobs, when bees turn hostile, they cannot be killed by the player. Submerging them in water De-spawns them; otherwise, they deal a set number of damage to the player and then die. Bees ignore armor, and are sometimes in flowers.
Bees are one cube in size, and attack or move as a swarm. They run as fast as players, and turn neutral if their target is submerged in water.
Wolves may also attack the hive, but the Bees will drive them away.
Sharks
Sharks are a new hostile mob that will attack in deep water. They swim faster than players and deal significant damage. Will try to stay in deep water, and will attack each other and squid.
DROPS: 1-10 TEETH.
Feeding a Shark a FISH (by hitting it with the fish) turns it passive for a short time. Sharks should only be hunted by the strongest adventurers, because of the great risks and rewards involved with the hunt.
Teeth
TEETH can replace FLINT in the Arrow recipe to do double the damage of a normal arrow. TEETH may also replace IRON to produce longer lasting SHEERS. Teeth may also be turned into (several) Bone Meal.
I have the shark in it's own forum post too, btw.

Your awareness of your surroundings rivals that of Dora the Explorer.

One up!
It would then proceed to sing the mushroom song and follow you around causing massive server lag.
