Everybody loves to build in Creative Mode! It's what Minecraft was originally intended for. However, sometimes finding a suitable plot of land can be difficult, either for a building or testing, and not everybody likes to/knows how to go through the process of downloading the proper maps or whatnot.
So I propose that when you start a new Creative world, you have the option of either using Minecraft's normal world generation, or creating a flatmap (maybe other types as well). You could choose the material it would be made of (even water and lava), as well as the ground height.
I like this idea immensely, although perhaps just adding more functions, like /cuboid on some classic minecraft servers would at least speed up the process of leveling terrain as well as building it; for example you could just pillar up then use /cuboid to make a large platform in the sky to build on, not necessarily so far up that there's no room to build but you get my point.
