I've seen many people on this forum complain about how Endermen are neither scary or a challenge to kill. While people complaining in the Minecraft Forums isn't exactly anything unusual, in this case I both agree with the complainers and I have (what I think) are a few pretty good ideas on the subject.
Firstly, when aggressive, Endermen should take on a slightly different appearance - their eyes should go red (or perhaps yellow), and their particle effect is changed to the smoke particle effect, like they had in the Pre-Release.
Secondly, when aggressive, Endermen would get a new ability: All light in a radius around the Enderman goes out. By that, I mean all light sources within range would cease giving off any light (or perhaps would be reduced to only giving off a limited amount of light). When the Enderman is killed or moves out of range of a light source, it comes back on. This wouldn't apply to sunlight, however.
EDIT: As a possible addition to this idea, perhaps Endermen could also disrupt Redstone power.
Anyway, what do you think of my ideas? Even if you're too busy/don't care enough to post, please answer the poll!
"Mod Edit: Posting about the amount of "raging gayness" in a thread serves only to flame other users. Please read up on the rules before you post again."
Endermen are too easy, especially with how they are killed by sunlight. Endermen should all just disappear when dawn comes. They should also be able to run when you have damaged them too much. Something that could make an Enderman fight REALLY interesting is if the block they were holding decided what tool you needed to use to fight them. Holding stone blocks require you to use a pickaxe to injure them at all, holding a log or wooden block requires an axe, dirt blocks require the shovel, anything else you can use the sword on.
I think the smoke should be brought back for Enderman all the time, and the lighting should be brought down much like the bottom layers. It is kind of scary navigating the lowest levels because you cannot see something coming until it is right in front of you, plus the floating particles makes it more creepy.

I wouldn't mind the smoke coming back all the time. I definitely would prefer it to the purple particles that the Enderman has now.

That sounds more annoying than actually something that you want to avoid confronting.

Thanks for the support! I agree, they're much too easy to kill right now.
Yeah, it seems like you have to look above an Enderman to get its attention. They should fix the hitboxes (or whatever the proper term would be).

I was thinking that lava would still glow (as in, would be perfectly visible in the dark) but wouldn't actually give off any light.
