Not really, but instead of endermen burning up and dying same as skeletons and zombies, they should vanish and leave behind an enderpearl. You can take the pearl and hide it in someone's house. And when night comes an enderman spawns in the house waiting for the inhabitant to come back from mining :smile.gif:
But Notch must improve the Endermen first. Also, I was thinking that if you throw an ender pearl (With a bow-like charge system) to any place, you can teleport there, of course losing the pearl: Acts as a consumable. Combined with your idea this would be great: You can move easier, but it has a risk. When you throw the item an Enderman may spawn instead of teleporting you.
Edit: The spawned Enderman should be hostile to the player inmediately after it appears.
At first I thought this was going to be about capturing other mobs with pearls. But endermen trapped inside pearls might work in Minecraft.
However, there would still need to be some distinction between regular pearls and ones dropped by Endermen, unless Cryptear's idea is used, then I'd be fine with endermen dropping it upon death by the player.
