Now, i feel that there arn't enough resons to go into the nether and really EXPLORE. The most i've seen anyone do in the nether is go far away, so they can get far away in the real world. Souldsand and Netherrack are too abundant, and are used too infrequently, and glowstone is abundant enough, and used as much as it should, but that's it. To give the player more reason to go into the nether, i think there has to be more content. Here are a few of my ideas:
Mineral Ideas:
Saxinfernus: A new tier of tool that can only be mined with a diamond pick, only has the striength of stone tools, but lasts twice as long as diamond.
Acid: Pools of acid that poison the player if fell into. Poisons other mobs as well, so can be used as a trap, or as a moat.
Mortelapis: A stone that drains the life of hostile mobs, and gives it to the player
Item Ideas:
Ghast Tenticle: I have said this in a few posts, but i feel obliged to say it again: Ghasts need a better drop. Sulphur isn't worth killing them, and retrieving their stuff over. So what about a 1-time use ghast fireball launcher? I think it would make pvp a lot more fun.
Mob Ideas:
Hellcat: A large tiger-like creature that wanders around hell. They can be tamed with Fish, and healed by Milk. Function like wolves, but in hell, as wolves can't go into hell. They are also fire/lava restistant.
Hellfire Wyrm: A Dragon made of Searing flames that attacks all who cross its path.
Lava Shark: A shark that swims in lava
Ocowort: A tree that looks harmless-- if not out of place-- that is stationary, but can deal great amounts of damage if in close quarters with its lashing vines, and gaping mouth. Can be used as a renewable source of wood while in the nether, too!
