I want to see more story and quest stuff in Minecraft rather than more crap to build/explore. Here are a few of my ideas:
1 Ruins - I LOVE the ruined forts found all over Oblivion. I always thought it would be cool to be able to claim one and fix it up. I also like the tombs that were scattered across the map in Morrowind, crypts and tombs would be awesome too!
2 I have to say that one of my favorite games of all time was Morrowind. There were 3 main quests and TONS of side quests. I would LOVE to see the same in Minecraft. Guilds/factions you could join would ROCK too.
3 Magic- I think the Aether mod has really got something. I love the idea of enchanting stuff and the magic rings and amulet are pretty epic. I think Alchemy would be a great edition to make health and other potions.
4 MONEY, MONEY, MONEY- Or a barter system. It would be nice to have the option to buy/sell rather than mine and explore, if the player chose to play that way.
5 QUESTS!!!! I want to have things to do if I choose, like take meds to a far off town, go on a spiritual quest for enlightenment, go steal a sword out of a tomb, and find one of a kind armor and weapons.
6 Transport- Like in Morrowind, it would be nice to have a few HUGE main towns with boats/bugs/something you could use to go to other places/towns. It would cost you, of course , so a good horse to ride if you didn’t what to pay would be cool too.
7 Deities and other useless sods. Some good, some not. Who you follow and who you please could affect every aspect of your game play.
I personally want to see minecraft become a GAME that has a sandbox, not a SANDBOX with a bit of a game. Don’t get me wrong- I LOVE the sandbox build and explore part but stuff to do accomplish would be nice too. (More than ‘Achievement: You punched a tree!) You can really only build and explore so much, but by the same coin it’s nice to take a break from questing to build or mine.
1. ITS A SANDBOX, INDIE GAME.
2. According to Notch, this will never, EVER, be implemented into the vanilla game.
3. Build and explore is the meaning with the game.
4. Put this in the suggestions forum.
5. Think
DUH. but still I'd like to have MORE to do. As a game, MC fails even in survival. I'm not saying make it an rpg with a rigid storyline- you wouldn't HAVE to do the quests.. they'd just be there if you wanted too.
If I was looking to seriously make suggestions to Mojang I would have posted this on getsatisfaction or a similar medium. There are mods available to do almost everything I discussed. Frivolous banter about what I think would make the core game more fun to me. Don't get your knickers in a twist.
I know Notch will NEVER add this stuff. In reality, Notch has made the lion's share of what he's going to earn off of minecraft. The last few things being added in 1.9 will probably be the end of the major updates that we seen as far as features and functionality. Minecraft has the ability to be an epic game but it really comes down to money. How much more time is Mojang going to put into a game when we've already seen the peak of its popularity and profit?
I had hoped that the 'Adventure Update' would add ... adventure. Honestly, all it was was a 'More Stuff to Explore Update'.
As the game stands and most players can attest to: it gets boring after awhile.

If you like all that stuff so much, go play some RPGs instead of Minecraft. I love Elder Scrolls but Minecraft should never change what it is.
