Hey guys! Haven't posted here in forever...
I love 1.8, theres definitely a lot less flaws in it than i thought there'd be, although I've seen some posts and a few people could strongly disagree with that. SO, like any other Minecraft player, I thought of a couple ideas that would be pretty damn sweet.
I know your limited to one idea per post, but I'm breakin all the rules today. Here are my ideas, please be open minded!
--The first being what Endermen drop. Since these guys are so distinctive / unique / mystical, I think what they drop would compliment that a whole lot more than a pointless ender-pearl. Since these guys have nothing better to do but move blocks around, they should drop ONE single randomized item. This can range from a piece of dirt or a stick, to a block of diamond. Although, the quality of the item would have a lower percent chance of landing. And, of course, not including blocks/items that would be abused, or blocks/items that you can only get by hacking. So things like bedrock, ice, fire (NOT flint + steel), and if necessary, TNT and obsidian. Just like the random weapon box on zombies (Or, on the "Zombiecraft mod") multiple items would scroll through first, before stopping at the one you pick up. I'm not trying to take the idea from zombies, I'm just giving a reference so you guys know what I mean. While it's shuffling through these items, an ambient noise should be played. All this would add to the feel and mystery of the Endermen.
--The second one is all about vines. For starters, I think a lot of the community expected vines to be climbable. Dont tell me you dont (or didn't) jump onto some vines pretending to be spiderman :wink.gif: . This could also served as a more natural use of ladders, with somewhat similar characteristics. This may be faulty or annoying, though, and I agree. Imagine trying to get to the trunk of a swamp tree to try cut it down, but can't cause there's ladder-like plants in the way? Which brings me to my next point. A hot key could be used to climb them, so as long as you don't press whatever key it is to climb, they're pretty much how they are now.
And another small addition to vine behaviors. For those who didn't know, vines grow and spread. And on tree's, they grow downward. Which means after some time, All the trees have a somewhat green box of vines around them, And it looks... icky. I can live with it, but it wouldn't hurt if they didnt grow.
Anyways, thats it guys. If you don't like my ideas, tell me why! Just no need to mount my ass on the wall :smile.gif:
If you do like my ideas, well you sir, are my new best friend.
Ender pearls aren't pointless, they're supposed to stop Endermen from attacking you from such a large radius as long as you're holding it/have it in your inventory.
And they already severely stunted the rate/distance at which vines grow.
Among several other reasons, the main reasons I actively enforce the 1 suggestion per topic are thus:
With a wishlist:
1) It is harder to effectively criticize multiple suggestions
2) It is harder for the OP to focus on each individual suggestion meaning that each is of lower quality (inherently)
3) It makes the post unwieldy as each topic is expanded. It makes it difficult for the critic to read each individual post.
4) It looks tacky, not only that, but it is difficult to differentiate one topic from the next where a single suggestion per topic would not have the problem.
5) It forces the critic to have to single out individual suggestions for improvement which can confuse the OTHER critics, the complainant, and the suggester.
Now, if you would be so kind, please review your suggestion; limit it to a single suggestion (pick your favorite), and elaborate greatly on the SINGLE suggestion you have.

It would be interesting, yeah... Maybe in some other circumstance, but not for Endermen.
