So there's weather. And it's the only disgusting thing about Minecraft in my opinion.
I mean, rain just snaps on and off at will with no warning whatsoever.
So, when snow is re-introduced in the game, I would like weather to become a little better as well.
How?
I think a much better experience would be to introduce weather as a local occurrence (Yep, I went there).
So here's the deal.
Precipitation can keep its visual form. That's good enough.
But the way weather is introduced can be better.
I suggest dark clouds rolling in slower than regular clouds, taking about a half day from where you can see them to where it starts raining/snowing. Imagine doing your daily Minecraft business when you see a dark thunderhead on the horizon, and prepare for the thunderstorm.
The rain would last until the dark clouds moved out.
Also, there could be fog, very simple. It just limits your render view, like you can already do.
Weather needs better effects, too. Let's say that if you are getting rained on/snowed on, your movement speed will decrease slightly and your hunger bar will drain slightly faster. There would finally be a reason to stay inside when it rains! :laugh.gif:
And last better weather suggestion: umbrellas.
Umbrellas get rid of rain's physical effects on you while looking cool.
The red wool being whatever color you want.
So, thanks for reading, hope you like my suggestion. If you see something your support or care to argue, you may discuss... now. :cool.gif:
I absolutely adore this idea! I think Notch can do so much more with weather. It surely is unexpected when it starts to rain. I love the thought of a making the game more realistic, and this is one thing that should be considered.
i was thinking about this as well and how about if:
a cloud is over water (oceans lakes whatever) during day light the cloud changes in shades so you can watch the bad weather form ( i think that all clouds should slowly fill with water (get darker) but over water should make it happen
faster)
i know at the moment clouds all move at the same time so they cant touch each other, but instead treat the clouds like mobs, so that darker clouds move slower.
i dont know if wind would be a possibility but the clouds would need to act accordingly and move in the same direction.
but with wind it would offer a good opportunity for natural disasters tornado's (but ive seen that on a different thread).
white clouds(empty) move faster and if they run into a darker cloud it grows becoming 1 cloud(mob) and the shade of the cloud brightens so its a shade lighter (but again that would depend on the size of the darker cloud vs the size of the lighter cloud, and it would also depend on how many shades would be implimented)
so the shade of the cloud should determine how bad the storm will be
dark clouds = hurricane worthy storm, higher % of lightening strikes, slight leaf damage on tree's, slower movement speed (the leaf damage things just a thought atm)
grey clouds = heavy rain, low lightening strikes, no tree damage(leaf), and walking speed reduced only slightly
light grey almost white clouds = very light rain no visibility reductions and no walking speed reductions
i think the clouds themselves should just be set on random timers so that they dont all amass and make some huge mega storm, maybe add that if 2 clouds combine it adds slightly more time before it rains to offer the chance to serve up a big storm, that way you can experience all kinds of different weather.
I agree. The dark clouds would be pretty epic. If they make umbrellas, I think while holding it you won't be able to see any rain, but keep seeing the dark clouds (and possibly fog).
Great idea!

It's good, but the sad truth Is that most of the suggestIons here don't get Implemented.
I would Mod It myself, but I can't program In java.
