I started a new game, and it's hard to get a good farm without water, and it's hard to get water where you want without a bucket. But buckets require iron, which is hard to get early in the game. In real life, plenty of buckets, especially those made to carry water, are made of wood.
So I propose replacing the current Bowl recipe with the same recipe making a Wooden Bucket. The wooden bucket can be used to carry water and milk, just like a current iron bucket. It cannot be used to carry lava, for obvious reasons. Since the wooden bucket replaces Bowls, it can also be used in place of a bowl for crafting Mushroom Stew.
To prevent confusion, the metal bucket should be renamed a Pail.
Now that water can be transported earlier in the game, Adobe becomes a reasonable building material. Oftentimes a player's first structure is made from dirt, but dirt is very weak. Currently there are no crafting recipes for dirt, but adobe is a stronger form of dirt. Specifically, Adobe is dirt, mixed with water, strengthened with straw, and dried into bricks.
Adobe is crafted from three blocks of dirt, three pieces of wheat, and a bucket of water. This produces 4 adobe blocks and leaves the bucket (or pail) behind. The adobe blocks are of the same strength as Wooden Planks- they can be broken by hand, but a pickaxe harvests them faster. Adobe is not flammable.

My first stone pick yielded me about 30 iron before it went out.
It's not hard just find a cave.

Agreed. Easier means less challenge, which in this case means less fun. Players should just find three iron before building a farm, it isn't that challenging.
