I think that Minecraft should allow when generating a new world an option to choose if it uses the old (1.7 biome generation method) or the new one as one of the options.
I really liked the older 1.7 generations and am just not happy with the new one. ( I understand everyone has their opinion, so I figured an option to use the old or new code would be fair).
For me personally, this is a game-breaking thing, the land formations are way too rough for me (going from flat to tall huge mountains with little or no transition). It just feels unreal. I know some people differ in their opinion and that's perfectly fine, its just for my play style and maybe some others, this land feels a bit less fun then the pre 1.8 generation.
This is just a suggestion that I think would be nice.

I can kinda agree in a way that its nice to always have the option to change, but the fact is these things are not easy to code in and then you have to account for Everyone's differing views it would make it overly difficult. Really they can only base there judgments on the majority as that's good business.

I get you,and I can see that it could take a bit to code in the new biomes and all. I understand they cant do something to cater to only a few people, but I've looked around and seen a few people that agree with my view on the biome generation for 1.8. Maybe instead of adding the old one in, they can tweak the new one, at least just enough for the transition from flat to mountain looks a bit more natural and smooth.
i dont think they shuld make "like 1.7" option, that would make a mass in the code.
and then every version they would do it,and then test every one, not good at all.
but in the start of the world they could make options for biome.
and then you will make the world that you want.

I agree with this. It would be quite a lot of extra work for something that only appeals to a niche group of players. What's more if you want 1.7 biomes, that means you don't get any of the other 1.8 features like strongholds, mine shafts, or villages, as they are all coded to work with the 1.8 terrain generation.
As for the rest of what this fellow says, check out this thread:
At least it gives you more control, if not fully reverting to 1.7 worldgen.
