I have this awesome idea for 1.9! I like to play lots of adventure maps, and but many of them use signs to tell the story of the adventure. There is a mod called ImagetoMap that puts words on maps, but it is not that great. I am thinking that maybe in 1.9 there can be a feature where you can pull out a book from a bookcase, or put it in, and even better, read from the book. There should be a function where the player can write things on a book. In order to identify the book, there can be a feature where you can edit the spine of the book! :DDDDD What do you guys think about this idea?
I would like books to be a bit more interactive. I imagine making blank books the usual way, and on right-clicking while holding them, being able to add a title, contents, etc.
Bookcases are then used to store the books - a bit like chests, but used as a kind of organiser. Right-clicking on them would bring up a list of books stored, and they can then be transferred to the inventory, for reading or to be moved to a different bookshelf.
Books can also have differnet fonts and sizes, because when I make my adventure maps, and I use signs, for one sentence I normally have to use 2-3 signs, and it's really annoying. Using a book, there can be sizes so one can fit more on a page, or have pages, with a flipping animation :biggrin.gif:. Some of the books can even have generated tips and hints.
I think books should also be able to store maps, so that you dont need to carry a bunch of maps around, because right now a map has a limit of a few hundred blocks, and with a book you can name the maps and put them in the book as pages.
