Well... since 1.8 its officially out, ive been exploring the world in creative mode to look at one of my long awaited geographical features, ravines, yes . Well, in this exploring i went through a nice pine forest and it look kinda snowy although it dint had anyone. And i observed that the color of smoothstone didn't quitlely match with the color of the biome . So im thnking of the idea to do the same thing with grass to smoothstone ,biome smoothstone color , heres my idea:
Ocean:Maybe greeny with some moss stone(coral would match perfectly)
Desert:Maybe kinda lighter thant normal smoothstone and yellower .
Snowy Areas:A pale gray and teal mix that would say that is cold stone.
Rainforest:Maybe a green color but lighter and smoother than ocean stone.
Nether:Red , but slightly lighter than netherrack.
I totally agree with this concept. I've wanted the stone to feel like it fit each biome better as well. On top of this concept, however, I feel it would be more fun to have each biome actually HAVE it's OWN stone textures, much like the new wooden planks. This would allow for more variation in building, and would also be supported by the extensive amount of new block types that are available to fill. And, as far as scripting goes, it would only have to be biome-specific when generated, but have the exact same properties as standard smoothstone.
I believe, although I'm not certain, that Terraria did the biome-specific stones. It just gives people more blocks to work with and REALLY brings the different biomes to life.
..No please. Biome specific water and grass is already annoying enough, especially if you are building underground and you accidentally build into a different biome. Could you imagine if stone did that too? Ah, sorry but no thank you.
