So, we all know the famous "Bleeding Obsidian" (at least you should). It looks like obsidian, but with blue streaks on it. So, I have an idea for this. The Totem!
First, you need the Bleeding Obsidian. To make it, you need to have 1 piece of obsidian in the middle surrounded by lapis lazuli. This would get you Bleeding Obsidian. When placed, it has the normal properties of obsidian, except with the texture difference. Now for the actual totem.
The Totem would be crafted with two Bleeding Obsidian on top of each other in the center row, surrounded by redstone dust but with glowstone dust on top of the Bleeding Obsidian. This would get a Totem.
Totems would appear as two Bleeding Obsidian blocks stacked with hieroglyphics inscribed on it. It would project light equivalent to that of a torch. The Totem would be used for deterring mobs; if a mob got within a configurable amount of blocks of it, the mob would lose aggro on you or your wolf and flee for 5 seconds in a random direction and then would be affected as normal.
Configuring the radius of the Totem is simple; a white number is inscribed on the side of the Totem. It always shows in front of you, so when you place it you see the number. When you right click the totem, the number changes. It has a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 10 to prevent abuse. They only affect the 2 layers the blocks are located on. The Totem is un-minable except with a Golden Pickaxe, and when you mine it, it is at the speed of stone with a wood pickaxe. It removes the blocks but gives you the item back. The item would appear as two Bleeding Obsidian stacked.
So, what do you guys think? I am kind of new to the forums so it may not be that good. Anyway, let me know your feedback!
If Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter were all destroyed, 90% of teens would go insane. If you're one of the 10% that would be laughing at them, copy this into your signature and hope it happens.
cool but they also called it the metorite so i think it would randonly fall during the night and you can mine it and get shards which you can armor (terraria refrence)
Overpowered; Obsidian is easy to get *PUT ALL THE WATER IN THE LAVA!!!*, as well as Glowstone (MINE IT ALL!!!). Redstone seems to be the only difficult thing to find there, and Lapis really doesn't have much of a point (except for that.)
And really, this can just be placed all over the world to make dungeons a snap.
So I can't nickname it? Lighten up. If I call it Bleeding Obsidian, I don't have to call it Crying Obsidian. That's like saying glowstone is lightstone and that i'm a bad player because I don't call it lightstone.

"It is also known as "Bleeding Obsidian", "Mystery Block","The Meteorite" and "super obsidian" among many members for its appearance."
If only I could aim.
