Since I've started playing the first leak of 1.8, upon discovering abandoned mine shafts , and encountering the cave spiders that inhabit them, I have felt that these cave spiders are rather, difficult, to deal with. Regular spiders were not, and still aren't a problem, but these blue spiders, are just straight upgrades in difficulties, in so many ways.
First off, they have the same health and damage as regular spiders, 10 and 1 on normal, but in addition to that, they have the venom, which does damage over time, and with that, damage intake recoil making it (slightly) more difficult to aim. They are smaller, which means a harder target to hit.
They always will spawn in groups, as they are created via a spawner, which will not cease to spawn them unless destroyed, which poses as a challenge as they will spawn around you.
Instant healing is no longer there, making it so you need to get cover and heal slowly.
Most of this I would be able to handle by itself, but when it's all together it can be, and is quite overwhelming.
I propose a simple fix, halving their health so they can be dealt with faster, but still posing the risk of being hurt, and typically, smaller creatures are more fragile (see: Slimes, chickens.)
A big punch in a little package.

I don't see how that will reduce the difficulty of cave spiders e_e
