This is a suggestion for a new type of arthropod in Minecraft, the earwig. Earwigs would be 2x3 sized mob, relatively rare, that crawl about the ground like spiders and spawn in darkness. For all of you who don't know what an earwig looks like, search it up. But here is my concept of how an earwig would look.
Sorry for the low quality, but you get the idea. I realize that this mob is rather complicated, so it could be simplified if needed. Also, I did not bother to put a skin on them.
Behavior
Earwigs, like spiders, would be passive in the daytime, and yet aggressive in the dark. I believe that earwigs should be able to be made constantly passive towards humans if a certain headgear is worn, but I need some feedback. There are male and female earwigs, and as you can see in the picture, you can differentiate between the two by the pair of pincers on the abdomen, the males is more pincer like (right) than the females which are more straight (left). Male earwigs will do 1.5 hearts of damage on hard difficulty, while females would only do 1. But female earwigs will have a slight speed advantage over males. Sometimes when a male and female meet, they will spawn 1-3 young earwig nymphs.(Should there be eggs first?) Here is an illustration (once again no skins).
Earwig nymphs do not spawn in darkness, only when a male and female adult meet. You can still tell the difference between a male and female earwig. These nymphs will turn into full grown adults in around 2-3 days. (Should the family stay together in this time?) Because it takes so long for earwigs to grow, earwigs will never despawn. After breeding once, parent earwigs cannot breed again. What is special about the earwig nymphs is in the following section:
Taming
Earwig nymphs can be tamed, while adults cannot. To tame an earwig nymph you must feed it one pumpkin seed, one watermelon seed, and one normal seed. Nymphs will then follow you around, until they grow into adulthood, during which they will stay in one place. But that is when you will be able to ride your pet earwig by right clicking on it (no saddle required). Riding an earwig will make you go slightly faster than normal walking speed, but not too fast. If you attack an enemy while riding an earwig, it will continue to attack that enemy as well. When dismounted, earwigs will remain in the same place and not wander off, allowing them to easily be put into stables.
Flying earwigs
Earwigs can fly in real life, so don't think this is nonsensical. There would be a 15% chance that when an adult earwig spawns, either from a nymph or in darkness, it will have the ability to fly at half human walking speeds. This can be a great advantage when you have a tamed flying earwig, which the flying could be controlled similarly to flying in creative mode. Female earwigs can still attack while flying. The male earwig , however, grabs the foe with its pincers which immobilizes the enemy, preventing attack (excluding creepers). You can command the earwig to drop the victim by punching anywhere in the air. This allows you to drop your victims to their death! Earwigs will fly at a quarter of human walking speeds while carrying a victim.
That is my mob idea of earwigs, I hope to have some feedback.
(on a side note you cannot punch and harm your own tamed earwigs)
Ketran, I realize most insect females are superior. It's just that I wanted to make there be more of a difference between the male and female earwigs, since male have larger pincers. I am not making any assumptions about humans. I was even thinking about making a mantis suggestion, with the female being stronger. Sorry if I offended you.

EDIT: Although i dont really like the flying earwig idea.
Why don't you like the flying earwigs?
But I like the suggestion.
