I'm surprised not MANY people have suggested this. Some have, but I wish to add something.
In order to use vertical redstone, you have to make a glue. The glue is made:
The glue would be placed on walls that are 2 blocks high. Since it uses clay, which is quite rare, It gives you 20 glue. You will not use the bucket.
Then, you right click to add the redstone to the glue. Glue can be placed on the ceiling, but there is a chance the glue will fall off back to the ground, and you need to grab it before it despawns.
The reason why it would fall of is that glue does drip, as it is a liquid.
If you do not place redstone quickly enough, the glue will dry, and you will have to destroy it. Glue will be white when first placed on, and then a grey color when dried.
