Firstly, I'd like to thank you all on a job well done in making minecraft possilbe, and playable! It's a very dynamic game and the potential for growth is limmitless! I play from Australia, and would like to suggest that you look into the people representing your company over there as a whole. I find the people managing the .net.au site to be never there and very slow to change things, also they are slightly less than helpful when it comes to finding a good public server to play on! Perhaps it is just me, but I'm a firm believer in customer service AND satisfaction! The lackluster, somewhat irresponsible approach they have to managment here is downright lethargic. There. I've said it!
The online experience we have is only made possible through the portals we are given in each of our respective countries, and the people here are never here! If you look, you can see that server details are old and most are redundant, many of which give false/misleading information, and are poorly representative of the minecraft experience. Getting down to it, its pathetic. Really. It is! Ok so I'm not all gripe and moan, I'll hand you my ideas Notch, its a habit for me to do so. (ponders if you remember me, or even know me!) Zombies should drop linen, which is both funny and ironic, because we all know a true zombie would have its pants around its ankles, being so skinny. NO-ONE EVER THINKS OF THIS STUFF! GEEZ!! Ok damn you, another - Stained Glass. -Speaks for itself, no ranting required, nothing really funny about it. ok ok another. Gas. Yes! GAS! The true miner knows that gas pockets play a HUGE part in mining and exploration. -Imagine thumping away underground and hitting a gas pocket.. BOOM!!! -But.. also being able to 'mine' it.. somehow.
Gas could be used in pistons, (should've been) turbines (!) AND the one i really think minecraft needs- Hot Air Balloons! Gas could power a burner to provide hot air, and the balloon itself would be made in stages, (using zombie linen) *cough* like sticky pistons. Burners themselves could have a large variety of applications, and I rarely even use suggestion forums like this omg I'm drifting now.. Burners would be a great way to smelt stacks of ore, and would power a large smelting device like a crumpet machine! Cows could carry machine guns and drop soap! Sheep could have televisions and drop wallets and handbags. Chickens could drive cadillacs and sell mystifying candy that causes your charcter to become drunk and stumble across the street. (I'm hiding the good stuff in babble, you see) Anyhoo, minecraft.net.AU for Australians SUCKS! Well at least the forums do, and I don't like seeing my babies malnutritioned, we all know that's bad. Also, I don't think we harvest wheat by punching it. -Just sayin' its not something you punch, its something you REAP! Tomatoes however, need a good punching AND throwing. But don't add those, they aren't really going anywhere.
Anyways, I've had a rant, you can bask in my amazing-ness-ess at will. -Did you ever notice that pigs drop meat and cows leather? When pig leather is more widely used than that of cows, and its the same for pork and beef? Was that intentional or just an oversight? Just curious. Oh and building a minecraft nuclear reactor to power my STEAM PUMP would be really nice. BURNERS MORE THANKS! And hot air balloons, you've taken far too long to bring those out! Dropping TNT from said awesome balloon would make for epic footage to send back to my latverian cousins in dakota who dream of such things day and night!

Maybe, just maybe, when it "explodes", the surrounding rocks or dirt could change somehow. For example, if the gas touches stone, it could turn darker brown. The point is, maybe when the "invisible gas" touches another block, the block could somehow change it's texture and you could be able to mine it. Than, after you have the affected blocks in your inventory, you could smelt them in order to get the gases out. Then, the gases could be kept in glass veils in your inventory/chest. That's just my idea. feel free to improve or hate on it.

More love than attention,

Good work.
Although, I wasn't really sure if you were trolling about the hot air balloon thing.
