Ships - 5 boats placed in the pattern to make a boat. Creates a placable ship which has a 5 by 9 bottom. 2 story with no cieling (4 tall). Built in ladder. One steering wheel on the back top floor (center). Can walk on. Holes on sides to climb in and out of (with built in ladders. Has a built in double chest, forge, and crafting table. Has it's own health bar which is damaged due to collisions. tops speed is faster than that of a boat. Decorative sail with ladder on mast and a crows nest (making ship 8 tall.) May be set on fire. Destroying of any bottom piece of wood will sink the ship (slowly.)Only axes may destroy ship blocks.
This idea is meant for long distance water travel. This can also be used for merchant/pirate ships in rp servers.
Drowners - new water mob. Destroys boats. moves slower than boat top speed in water. Cannot damage Ships. 1 block tall. low health. spawns in packs with a pack ai. Packs are 3 times larger in ocean biomes. Shared vision/ aggro. Grabs players in 3 deep water (or more) and drags them down. If one is destroyed while dragging down a player, another takes it's place until all are killed. If the player is shallow water, they preform basic attacks. which deal 1/2 heart damage. Will not leave the water except to attack ships. May scale the sides of ships to attack on board.. On ships, they act like they're in shallow water. When players are in the water in an ocean biome, the chances of a pack spawning increase significantly.
Makes boating a little more exciting. In Rp servers, would add a new twist to water travel/combat.
Axe - should act as a combat weapon as well as a tool. Chargable for a larger attack (right click). Players would have to unequip it in order to do other activities (chest use etc.)
Shield - Would be pairable with a sword. (equipted for basic armor, but only usable with a sword equipted.) By holding right mouse button, players would be able to block damage (the hearts would be dealt to the durability of the shield.) Would be able to stop 10 hearts of damage.

My search bar won't work. no matter what i type, the page never loads.
It's a list so that you don't see 4 seperate threads.
- Expanding on the naval theme is a good idea (especially with the ocean's increased size), but I'd suggest being able to craft a moving, floating platform for the player to build on within a set radius. Being able to craft a ship of that size which can't be adjusted is unthinkable within MineCraft.
Things I don't like:
- Drowners. Really? I don't see how they would enhance the player's experience. I'm sorry, but I would not enjoy playing MineCraft with that kind of mob. There's enough frustrating mobs as is.
Conclusion: I would enjoy a worthier ocean-faring vehicle if the ocean biomes are large enough, but for me I'd like an adjustable large ship matching the MineCraft atmosphere.
I think you're right to a certain degree--I believe that a buildable floating platform on which you could expand would be fantastic. Also, the player would need to regulate how much stuff he/she places in it, so it doesn't sink! Also, there should be some power source running it which would be difficult to make, but effective, like powered minecarts.
But, I kind of like the "Drowner" idea. To each his own.

true, a platform would be better.
however, there aren't any aggressive ocean mobs atm. thus, building an island tends to be a bit boring (light it up and it's an easy haven). some mobs should be biome specific.
i personally think creepers should spawn underground. but that's just what i think.

If I helped you out, or made you laugh feel free to hit that green button!
shields would be like a upgrade of that, more protection :3
Also, I do like the axes, but it has been suggested.
The Sun rises in the North! Now these points of data make a beautiful line...
correct. Perfect protection until it breaks.
Click or it will die!
thanks. I feel they would add to the rp element.
