The idea is for cooler boats. A while ago, I noticed all the cool pirate ships that people were making in SMP and imagined people riding around in them and the boats actually moving. So my idea for this is a crraftable engine which can be placed underwater. From there, any blocks attached to the engine can move with the engine. The engine can be moved by a "captains wheel"(craftable) which, when right clicked, allows one player to move the boat. Everyone in the boat moves with it. There would be a weight limit, which would not affect speed of the boat, only the start up time. If the weight limit is exceeded, the start up time becomes infinite, hence the boat will not move and will possibly sink. Every block has a diverse weight value 1-10, wood being 1 or 2 and things like cobblestone at 8,9, or 10. There would be three engines: wood, iron, and diamond. Wood's weight limit would be around 50, iron at 150, and diamond at like 300. But multiple engines would stack in effect, so 2 diamond engines and an iron engine would make the weight limit 750. The boats would be as big as one wanted them as long as they fit the weight limit- a small fishing boat and a giant yacht would be constructed the same way, but the yacht would probably need more engines. This would also encourage players to make greater use of waterways, channels, etc. What does everyone think? I don't care what kind of comments you make, just make comments! (unless they're stupid off-topic nonsense or something that will make the moderators shut this thread down)
Maybe for smaller boats, have just a rudder than you turn from side to side. I like this though, and after looking at some bigger items people have made w/ mods I think it would be pretty cool.
It would have to be modular though I would think. Maybe you craft the parts individually, and then put them all into the 3x3 grid in different patterns for different boats. For larger boats, it would assume you are making the boat larger by using a different engine, determined by making engines craft into larger ones. Ie: craft 2 iron engines, then place each into the crafting grid to create a double engine block or something, allowing for larger engines to be put into a boat w/out having to **** up the crafting grid too much.
great ideal but why have a sail on a boat wen u got an engines
but what would be used to power the engine
if so it could work like the furnace using coal and other burning materials
I saw that, I like it. Full power to yeh, all I care about is the idea getting out there.
The point of the search bar is they don't want people posting the same thread twice. Maybe you should just support my thread instead. If you wanted the idea out there, you would support one thread and constantly support it, such as having a sig or something...

Also, sea monsters. **** yea.
