Since we have the ability to create several maps in MC, I'd really like to see the ability to place 3, 6, and 9 maps into a crafting bench to create a wall map or table map. This could then be accessible by right clicking the map to place highlight markers on it for points of interest that would give you x,z coordinates.
What I would really love to see, is the ability to "roll up" said maps, and carry them around in a map tube that takes up 3 inv. slots. I think this would be a brilliant add-on to the game, and would make exploring much more involved. ON MP servers, this could be used in groups to give certain people "jobs".
You could, for instance, have one guy that is a "surveyor", and goes around mapping the landscape. He could then bring the maps back with him and have them put together to create a wall map for other players. This could also be added into the game as a "quest" handed out by NPC's in the villages once they are more concrete. (I have other ideas for the villages, but I really like this one.)

Simply the ability to make a map table/wall hanging and be able to right click on a map with it and copy the contents of your map on to it would be really cool. You could use it to generate massive overworld maps of areas.
