So I honestly have no clue what I'm talking about but try to bear with me. I've been making skins since forever, but there's been a massive problem that has gotten in the way with a few skins, especially the skins of others. This problem stems from the fact that the skin template has an even number of squares to color in.
For an example, I recently made a skin of a Legion Centurion from FNV. Sure, the skin was easy for me to make, except for one part. The spike on its forehead. I couldn't just make this thing two squares wide, that would look absolutely stupid. I had no choice but to erase the spike completely take out the spike, even though it was, in my opinion, one of the coolest parts of the model.
Another example is one guy had difficulty making a heart (for whatever reason) on his skin while keeping on center. Or another guy was making a knight skin and he had trouble making it without having derp eyes.
So my suggestion is to somehow make the skin template have an odd number of squares to color. He wouldn't have to make the whole player model larger, because if Notch really wanted to do it, he could just make each pixel individually colored. Though he would have to adjust the resolution or size by a few pixels to make it able to have an equal amount of pixels in each square.
I'm not sure if this is possible, nor do I know if this makes any sense. Tell me if you need some clarification, I bet some parts are a bit vague.

"Is this what you feared? That the sum of your life would leave you here?"
I don't think it would be a problem, any skin that specifically requires an even template could easily be made with an odd template. It just might be a little cramped or a little spacey.

I think that the skins should stay even because any skin that specifically requires an odd template could easily be made with an even template. It just might be a little cramped or a little spacey.

Now these points of data make a beautiful line...
Not true at all.
Referring to my spike problem I posted earlier, it would look too bulky and not proportionate. Also the heart problem would have to be put off center to actually look like a heart. Besides, what are you so against? You've given pretty much no useful feedback.

I don't come from a forum with a quote button, it was supposed to be relatively below the guy who said "what about people who want even ones?"
Anyway, there COULD be both. While that would be a relatively low change, there could also be much more variant models for other peoples' enjoyment, that vary in physical appearance. I wouldn't figure it being too difficult to implement.
