Now that experience points\levels have been added to minecraft, I’m really worried about how they will be used. I really don’t want them to be there just for congratz you are level “x” type achievements that have no in-game uses. I was thinking that levels should control equipment usability. This would mean for example that you would have to be a certain level to use diamond pickaxes, and that if you had a high level, tools would become faster, and last longer. Also I would like for there to be level requirements for crafting, IE, you must be level 2 to craft with iron. Really, any in-game uses would be nice and I hope that mojang implements them.
Sidenote: I haven’t actually gotten around to playing the leaked 1.8 yet (shame on me), so if this posts suggestions are redundant\already in use, please tell me and I’ll be glad to take down the post! :smile.gif:

To those saying "Press the green +", the + is actually white, it's the circle that's green.
1.9 with experience you can buy upgrades more maximum health, bigger jumps, faster sprints, etc
Yeah, that is really the kind of stuff i was hoping for. Btw, did whereever you got those 1.9 additions from mention anything realating to equipment? (since thats what i was hoping for most in my post :biggrin.gif: )

Minecraft should never have a limit on which tools you can use. That is a horrible system. if this suggestion were to be added, it would lead to experience being a hindrance, not a reward.
Yes, it totally makes sense that using a better and more effective tool which is basically exactly like others with worse materials that would be more DIFFICULT to use effectively, can only be used by those who are more experienced. Much more, experience in using the pickaxes is based on your ability to kill things with a sword or bow.

No support from me whatsoever.

Because that's the sensible conclusion to reach.
your right, the more i consider the effects of what is suggested, the more i realise its completely flawed. however, i was simply thinking of things i would like to see and got excited, so thanks for actually making me realise how my idea would (not) work!:smile.gif:
