Gold Mushrooms and Gold Stew
Gold mushrooms are the third type of mushroom. They generate and grow on the sides of blocks, usually logs because it's shady there. Gold mushrooms are the rarest type being only on the sides of blocks.
If you read at least the first paragraph on Pleurotus, you will know that they are edible. Now, like normal mushrooms, gold mushrooms must be in stew to be consumed. Gold mushrooms make a special type of stew - Gold Mushroom Stew!
Gold Mushroom stew will not heal a little more than normal stew, but it will stop your hunger meter from decreasing for a bit. It's useful for your first night (other nights too), building, and just stopping the plain annoyance of hunger. Here's how you craft it:
Sequoias and Huge Gold Mushrooms
Sequoias are the tallest trees in the world. Now, they would be as tall as 5 trees. The wood base would be 5x5, sometimes having hollows on the side or base. Huge strands of vines hang down from the trees. Huge Gold Mushrooms grow out of them. Sequoias are rare, and only found in an exclusive biome of them.
Huge Gold Mushrooms grow out of the sides of Sequoias. The stalks are at an angle, but the cap is facing up. If you manage to climb up these huge trees, you can harvest the huge mushrooms, also getting some gold mushrooms.
If you plant a gold mushroom on the side of a block (preferably sequoias) and use bonemeal, it will grow a Huge Gold Mushroom.
Sequoia hollows aren't just holes in the side. Since a sequoia is solid, the hollows are carved by a mob (not really, it just generates that way). What would that be? Silverfish. Destroying a sequoia log block has a small chance to spawn a silverfish.
I support! But there should only be one forest of sequoia in the entire minecraft world. Golden mushrooms should be really rare. Also, sapling for sequoias should take at least 10 days to grow. Giant golden mushrooms need some work. Maybe they should be fairly small for "giants".

Oh yes, they would definitely be smaller. :smile.gif:

I am meowing at my lung’s fullest. I would even argue that the echo that reverberates back to me is the voice of someone I know…
I love everything about this, except for the silverfish part.
The thing is with silverfish, everyone is beating the idea of silverfish to death. I say let the little devils lie, and keep coming up with great ideas like this without forcing silverfish into them.

I'm not forcing silverfish into the suggestion. Now there are dungeon-specific mobs. Sequoias are large and very useful, so there MUST be a catch. I originally designed them to be dungeons, but since they are in a biome, they can't be. The only logical mob in a Sequoia without creating a whole NEW mob would be silverfish.

Only one Sequoia forest in the whole MC world? A world 8 times bigger than Earth (litterally)?
Don't be silly, just make them very rare, and it needs 10 bonemeals to grow one ''instantly''.
I support! However, I don't think gold mushrooms should stop the hunger bar from depleting even if only for a short time. I would rather have them increase a bit more energy than regular stew and make hearts heal faster than usual. By the way, has anyone ever actually tried oyster mushrooms? They are delicious.
