Now me and one of my friends like to talk about things that should be implemented to MC. That friend and I also love how everything in MC simply fits (they somehow pulled off making the endermen fit, something that we thought would feel very out-of-place). Whenever him and I talk about things that should be implemented, we always ask ourselves if the idea would fit. Another thing we ask ourselves is if the idea would add one more semi-useless item (like cocoa beans, lapis lazuli, gold(debatable), and the new ender pearl). Another annoyance is an item that you craft into another item that is used for crafting only one item (the Airplane mod is a perfect example of this. Sticks are a perfect example of the opposite)
Saddled Upgrade
So, after playing 1.8 a bit (mainly to see all that's there and bug-hunt), I noticed that saddled pigs still do almost nothing other than give a few laughs the first time through (and only if your humor is tuned just right). I'm guessing that half of you semi-forgot that saddled pigs even exist.
About a couple of days ago, my friend and I were talking about how saddled pigs are generally useless. The simplest thing that we could think of is that you feed them food, and we namely said wheat as the best item, as it's a rather useless food (healing less than other foods, and taking lots of time to start farming). Adding this would add a use to wheat / (apples and sugarcane if you think that's also a good idea), and would also add an alternate faster travel in contrast to minetracks. A few problems arise with the taming of saddled pigs.
Scenario: You go exploring for new stuff on your saddled pig. You find a purely AWESOME cave. You go exploring for roughly two days, and you come back. OMG YOUR PIG IS GONE OMGOMG. Solution: Make previously tamed pigs stay so close to the area you dismounted them, so that you don't have to make a little pen for your pig ever time you go off and do something.
While this is a generally puny idea, this adds content to the game without actually adding more content. It's truly more of a suggestion for an upgrade on existing content.
If you think of other ideas in the same field ( transport) or improvements on my current ideas that could be added, post here and I'll add it if I like it.
EDIT: I am aware that someone has done an alternate suggestion for the same field of saddled before, but this is generally quite a bit different, so I posted this anyway.
I kind of like this idea. Say, you could make a fishing rod, but instead of string at the very end, put wheat there. Making a sort of... 'lead rod' for saddled pigs. You can guide them while you're on it maybe? And if you need them to stay where they are, you could place it like a block on a wall. It might be interesting.

While this is an interesting idea, this is one of those "add an item for one purpose" ideas. I find feeding pigs something would be a lot better because it wouldn't take up a whole inventory slot for the one purpose. Plus simply feeding the pig would be a lot easier to code.
