I don't think I'm the only one that finds it annoying when someone says,"great idea, but too hard to code!" So what! The cure for cancer is hard as heck, yet people still try it. Sometimes it takes someone that has no knowledge of Java or OO, because they, unlike some people, don't think too much about it. So stop bashing people, embrace them instead. Or bash it because their idea sucks... weellll I prefer "constructive criticism"
I approve although I don't think your in the right section...
And some ideas would be hard to code but maybe not too hard. I support those great ideas even if they would be a pain in the pick (hehe, bad pun, if it even is one) to code! Coders can always try breaking the ideas down into simpler concepts and build it up from there!
Difficulty or infeasibility of implementation is a legitimate criticism of a suggestion. It doesn't do anyone any good to ignore problems just because you don't understand them.

what I was saying in summary form! You deserve some rep!
This.
I;v been waiting for someone to notice that when people say,"It's to much work" It's nto a legitament excuse. It;s Mojang's job to code, so they get paid for it. So if they decide to do it, they're obviously prepared for whatever amount of work that comes with it.
There are some ideas that would be impossible to code efficiently. These ideas will never make it into Minecraft as-is because it would cause massive lag (especially with multiplayer taken into account.) These ideas must have changes made if they are to actually stand a chance of being added to the game.
If the person making the comment can suggest what needs changing, then that would be very helpful of them.
Yes, I already wrote a "rather short" article about this here.
All you guys say is true, just saying, there are people who go "Vertical Redstone, too hard to code! Idea sucks!" Yet it is still a mod, meaning it isn't. Just saying. Unless you are a mind reader, you can't see what is "too hard to code" for Notch. Yes there are ideas that CAN'T be coded, but they are rare. And sorry for not reading that "for the critics", maybe you could link the topic? maybe? probably not... so ya...
Thankfully, Notch has a high enough IQ to be a fairly reliable judge at what is truly hard to code or not. I know for a fact that a lot of pseudo-programmers claim hard coding when there's actually quite simple coding involved (and vice versa ofc). You just need the right approach to the problem-solving. Any problem solved in a terrible way, will obviously be harder to code than a solution that uses simpler structures and less redundancy.
As long as Notch reads the suggestions (which he does), everyone else can (quoting Richard Pryor) "just have a coke and a smile and STFU". Well at least take it easy.

In fact, given a rudimentary understanding of how Minecraft works and some serious coding experience, you can often say with confidence that a certain idea would be easy or difficult to implement. Additionally, it's easy to tell if an idea would require significant changes to the chunk format. The problem is that many, if not most, of the people making such claims don't know what they're talking about (e.g. "Mirrors are easy because you only need to add one block").

Um, "For the critics" is kind of pinned (you should have absolutely no trouble finding it), and I already gave you a link :tongue.gif:.
The problem comes with the audacity of the poster when they state something would be too hard to code.
The devs of Donkey Kong complained that it was hard to code because they had to redo the code for its multiple levels. Again, if you don't have a honestly good reason to say no to a suggestion except that you don't like it; it's better to just STFU and say nothing than throw out a debatable and unreliable excuse for denying a suggestion.
This isn't a pet peeve as it's not prevalent to the point of abuse; but it is still a sheepish cop-out.

Mostly moved on. May check back a few times a year.

May the force be without you.
