Hey Minecraft forumers, welcome to my suggestion post. So I bet you guys are all wondering: "Trees with gravity!? Whut the hell does he mean?". Well let me explain this to you. You know how in Minecraft, when you cut the bottom log of the tree, the rest of the tree just floats there? And sometimes on multiplayer servers, some of the newbies or lazy members might no feel like cutting off the top log of a birch tree, so the log along with all the leaves just stay there? Well, this can get annoying after awhile, especially if your an Admin or Mod on a server and have to chop down that top log of a tree in order to keep your server looking nice. Another reason this is sort of annoying, is because trees don't float in real life. Yes, I do know that Minecraft is just a game and not real life, but floating trees is just something I think should be fixed.
So I do know that there are a few Mods that address this problem, like the Timber! mod. But the reason I don't like the mods is that when you cut the base log of the tree, the rest of it just "blows up" or something, and a pile of perfectly cut logs fall on your head without your axe even taking any extra durability damage. Another reason is because my own suggestion is obviously quiet different than the mods. My suggestion would be that trees would be effected by gravity. By this I mean that when you cut the bottom log of a tree for example, the whole trees along with the leaves fall one block. It's like if you have a pillar of 5 gravel stacked on top of each other, and then take the second from bottom piece out, the rest of the gravel pillar drops down one block. Anyways, I thought this was a pretty reasonable and realistic way for the trees. Now one problem that could occur would be that when the leaves of the tree also fall along with the rest of the tree, the leaves could suffocate you. Well, I have a solution for this; when a leaf block falls on you head because of the gravity from the tree, it instantly breaks on impact with your head with even a chance to drop a sapling. Oh, and another thing I wanted to say was that player placed logs won't be effected by gravity (similar to how notch is making it so that player placed leaf blocks won't disintegrate) this way you can all still keep your log roofed houses.
Okay, so floating trees have always been a part of Minecraft, and I can respect that, but this is just a suggestion that I feel could be for the best. Now a lot of you might not want this change, clinging on to the older idea of floating trees instead of the newer idea. But this is the suggestion forums, so I really do think there should be more open-minded people. Well anyways, this is the end of my suggestion post, so I just want to say thanks for reading this far. I'm open to all comments, weather they be positive or negative, so feel free to speak your mind and vote! Once again, thanks for reading, and have a nice day!
Heretic! :sad.gif:
That's like suggesting that punching trees should have no effect anymore!
This was what I meant by "clinging on to old ideas". Well I respect and value your opinion on the matter anyways, so thanks for the comment :smile.gif:
You have waisted all your time writing all of that. This has been suggested very many times. This will soon be put in the already posted suggestion. Before you post anything look in the rules.

Your arguement is invalid.

Those floating sand blocks are glitches. Sand is supposed to fall, but when generated by the world, sand won't fall until a block update.
And have you noticed how Steve and the mobs fall? That's gravity...
