The idea is simple; I don't enjoy having to place an entire stack of blocks to then place ladder blocks on each one.
In reality, ladders should stay in place as long as there is a block below them and a block for them to lead on above.
After you build a ladder up, you should be able to remove the blocks between the block at the top of and very bottom of the ladder, if not simply be able to stack them like sugar cane. If you destroy one segment of it, all segments should fall down.
However, sturdiness in this respect will be compromised if you build the ladder too high without support every 6th to 8th block. If you build a ladder any taller than that, it will collapse (only where it is weak) when you get mid-way, and you will fall.
Nice ideas. Animals are supposed to be more persistent in 1.8, so can there be some way to get leather/feathers or something without killing it?
You can't get leather from a cow without killing it. Leather is the cow's skin, and it can't survive without it.
You can't pluck feathers from any bird without harming it. The quills are filled with blood, how feathers grow on birds, so they are very much like the skin of the chicken. Imagine if someone took pliers and proceeded to pull your finger nails out one by one. A chicken would pluck away at you in self-defense.
Sheep are different, because wool is hair, though technically they should freeze to death in the winter/snow biomes when sheered, as wool is their only means of protection to survive in cold weather.
I don't see a need for any of the taming of mobs, as they will be persistent in 1.8 (with rumors of more appearing if you keep 2 of the same mob close to each other). There is no need for it and it is already suggested.
The sturdy ladder part on the other hand is beautiful. Delete the other stuff (or it will be closed as a wishlist) and just go with that.

Ok, I fixed it. "Taming" is now clarified as "[Visual/Audible] Possession". I mention also the Shepard's Crook idea suggested in Farmcraft by noClue. It goes very well with the bells. Seperated manure into its own seperate suggestion.
No more death stuff. But also got rid of the Iron Brand. I'll await 1.8's updates to decide if I want to push that suggestion. I need to understand how they are implementing the odds of beef drops, or if ratios will fade out due to persistent mobs, otherwise branding to get better odds of beef from slaying a cow would be interesting. Just too early to suggest that.
EDIT: I will find a way to get the ideas of the bells and manure added to the Farmcraft thread. I'm not sure if the person who started that thread is still around or not, as despite several of his ideas being in 1.7.3 and others coming to light in 1.8, I'm getting the idea he's not been on the forums in a long time.
Fixed entirely. I did not realize the full editor would allow me to change the title.

If only I could aim.
