I am sure theres another thread about it but I wanted to get my ideas out as well as hear from you.
I think it would be nice to see glowstone dust used as a medium-level light source that can be laid like redstone dust. It could be used to trim rooms in a more subtle an inexpensive way or to light up measurements. I use lit redstone for measurements in large construction, so I feel glowstone would be nice to use without a torch of some kind in the center. Also, maybe the glowstone dust could be mixed with a stick for a handheld light source that burns out over time? The blocks would be interesting, I believe, if they were reskinned to be semitransparent with little to no trim on the edges. It would match the density and overall feel of glowstone more. Wouldnt it be nice to have a fluorescent like block in game? You could make semi modern structures and they would look perfectly natural in the nether. I find most texturepacks making glowstone into another item, albeit lanterns and the like, look very out of place in a natural selection.
Anyway shoot some ideas here. I already saw the one about armors though :wink.gif:
I just had the idea to mix glowstone dust into dyed wool to create lightsources in different colors, that would be awesome...
Oh that is a great idea actually. I use Minecraft for modern house designs, so I mean, imagine all the cool things i could use colored lights for, from my bar upstairs (stage and all) to my party room hot-tub. I could have a lit base to it in which the water lights up in all different colors.

Id be down for some glowstone dust trim.. It should have a light level of 11 though as to not be more powerful than a torch. Also I like semi-transparency of glow-stone idea. It could be done so that the 'stone' parts of the glowstone are opaque, while the glowy 'gem portions' of it are semi-transparent. It would look really cool. It could also be a "fancy-fast" thing in the settings. like it

Please stop crying. I can't interrogate you while you're crying.
Yeah, it's been suggested before. It'd be over powered anyway.
Too overpowered? maam this isnt call of duty having a fricking triple machine gun rocket launcher, its an extra light source in minecraft that gives off just enough luminace to keep monsters from spawning and not have huge blocks and torches blocking your view.
I personally think this is a great idea but unfortunatly have nothing to add.
