As we all know, 1.8 will feature NPC villages. The villages are tiny medieval style towns. The NPCs are humans with random clothes and heads. In the future Notch will probably expand upon this one type of village. But - why expand upon 1 single NPC village, when there could be different types of villages?
Village
The village is what will be coming in 1.8. Humans for NPCs, a blacksmith, houses, shops, etc. This one's features are up to Notch.
Castle
You travel mountain over mountain, hill over hill, sea to sea, to find a large Castle out in the distance. The Castle is pretty much an RPG town. In front of the castle is the Plaza. A cobblestone ground, a normal and mossy cobblestone wall around it, shops and houses, a stone slab walkway, a church, etc. At the other end of the entrance is the gate. Once you go through the gate you are in front of the castle. The castle is pretty much a giant square with four towers and a throne room in front. The outer ring of the interior is a square hallway. The center is four rooms all connected in a square. You can enter them from in the hallway. The throne room is the entrance, including a red wool carpet and a throne for the king. From inside the four towers you can go up or down. Down leads you to the dungeons. The dungeons have cells with iron bars. If you get the town angry at you, the king will throw you in the dungeons. How is that a punishment? Well, the cells don't have any torches. Monsters can spawn and attack you. If you go up in the towers, you can walk in between them. From there the archers will snipe monsters.
The Plaza
The plaza includes the buildings. First is the church. The church has stair blocks to sit in. If you go up to the priest he will fully heal you. The second building is the armory. It's a shop that sells armor, tools, weapons, bows, and arrows. The third building is the Inn. You can walk into any room and sleep in an unoccupied bed for the night. The fourth and final type of building is a house. That's where the residents will reside. As you can see, the Castle village is missing a wheat farm and a blacksmith, but they have a church and an Inn.
The NPCs of the Castle are the same as the Village - humans.
If a resident of a Castle encounters a resident of the Village, they will exchange items that they cannot get in their own town such as wheat.
Rankings
Like the Village has Blacksmith, Resident, etc., the Castle has rankings too. The highest ranking is the one and only King and Queen. They wear no armor and are peaceful. Though, if you attack them, the Knights will bring you to the dungeons.
Another ranking are the knights. They wear Chainmail armor and carry iron swords. They will attack monsters and you if you greif/kill/steal. The third ranking are the Archers. They will snipe monsters around the Castle from on top to prevent monsters from getting in. If you have a bad reputation in the town, they will snipe you too if you come too close.
The fourth ranking is the Priest. If a resident or player comes up to him he will fully heal you for free ONLY in the early morning.
The fifth ranking is a merchant. They will sell items to residents or players for ores.
The sixth and final ranking is a resident. They just live their ordinary lives just like you.
Goblin Camps
Goblin Camps have a new NPC mob. Goblins(duh). They all look the same and they all wear a greek leather tunic. All of them carry around swords or bows, and some of them have armor.
A goblin camp has only 3 types of building. The first is the Fort. A fort is a square chinese-style building with a gate on each side as a door and and no roof. In the center are some chests with rare items such as saddles. You can choose you steal, but there are guards. The goblin guards will attack you if you attack them, a villager, or open the chest.
The other types of buildings are huts and mines. Huts are residential buildings. Residential Goblins will like in these wool huts. They include a crafting table, a furnace, and a chest.
Mines are Mineshafts. Just like you, they rely on mining. Though, sometimes they get to curious and forget the mining rules such as not placing torches, mining the block under them, and falling into lava. The miners do all the mining and bring the ores to the fort.
Rankings
The highest ranking is a guard. The guards guard the fort and also kill monsters. Some wear leather armor, and they either have a stone sword or a bow.
The second highest ranking is a miner. They do all the mining in the mineshafts and put all the ores in the fort.
The final and lowest ranking is a camper. They are the residents and live in huts. They have no special job but hunting and exploring.
Goblins are neutral. They will only attack you if you attack/steal/greif them. A goblin has 10 hearts like a hostile mob and they do not damage with their fists.
If a goblin encounters another NPC villager or village they will raid. If they win, they will take all the items and blocks and put them in the fort. If they lose, the victim village will take from the fort.
I'm going to post more NPC villages I came up with later, such as the one in the Nether. Please support more than 1 NPC village! :smile.gif:
Anyone have ideas for new ones? I have a few I'll go into detail.
A humanoid Ant Mob that lives in a cave. They also wear armor to protect themself from monsters. They are the second smartest mob and will trade with any NPC (even goblins)
