Ok I just thought of something. How about instead of having cows in 1.8 drop Beef, they drop Ribs! Ribs, nothing new here food heals blah blah blah. No. These have a twist.
Ribs heal 3.5 hearts over time if cooked, if uncooked they heal 1 heart. But after you eat ribs, you get a bone! I think this will be an effective way to get bones and to get a wolf or grow your trees/crops to get more food/wood.
Ribs will only have a 30% drop rate and with the new decreased peaceful mob spawn rate, I think this won't be to OP.

I could go either way. I don't like the idea of the ribs themselves, just being another food that does nothing special. But I don't mind the bone from peaceful animals part, considering how bone meal is nothing really special. Maybe just give everything a small (and I mean really small) percent chance of dropping maybe one bone. However, that would kind of defeat the purpose of skeletons. So like I said, I'm indifferent towards this.

I had though of that, but I thought that skeletons will always drop bones and also arrows and you can just let them die and then collect them. But I think there was some stuff i forgot to mention, putting that in now. Plus how many wolves do you really need? :wink.gif:
i really liked the idea, but bones? i work my ass off at night to kill skeletons for bones, to make some wheat, which is bread, and with the bread i kill more skeletons, which is an endless way to get food!
but with cows it makes my plan even easier :biggrin.gif:
I think you didn't really get the idea of hunger, then you eat you refill your hunger and not heal yourself, but then your hunger lvl is on 90%-100% it will heal like in peacefull.
