I didn't see anything in the compilation topic and I ran a search, but didn't want to spend an hour sifting through all the topics that didn't relate to his idea, so if it's been posted before, I apologize.
I think it would be interesting to have the ability to create rubber by smelting slime gel and then use that to make a rubber ball by using 8 rubber with an open center.
Balls would function differently from blocks or items. A large ball would look kind of like a slightly smaller block (possibly with different colors if you apply dyes). If you bump into it, it moves in the opposite direction, kind of like a boat, so it could use the existing physics engine. Balls would move further, however, and momentum would be based on how fast the person who bumped into it was going. If in the air, balls could also have a limited bounce.
Additionally, right clicking on a ball will pick it up. This can be done when the ball is in the air, as well to "catch" the ball. Left clicking would hit the ball with whatever item you have equipped, which could send it flying. When in hand, the ball can be thrown by pressing the right mouse button again. This would have a greater arc than the Q button and could even conceivably be charged like the new bow mechanics to throw further. Punching a player with the ball will make them drop the ball.
There's no real practical purpose behind this sort of thing, just a fun little item that could make some of those soccer and baseball stadiums more useful, or even make a decent version of basketball, tennis, golf, or even football within the Minecraft engine.
