What if somebody (Mojang or otherwise) made an RTS version of Minecraft? (For those people who don't know what an RTS is, it stands for Real Time Strategy, and is a genre of game that Starcraft, Age of Empires and other similar "Birds eye view base building" games fall into)
It seems like Minecraft would slot into this pretty well, but what's your opinion?
Any ideas on how this would go, and how the game would run? Structures? Units? Mods? Resources?
What I'm thinking is having a "spawn" point that spawns steves, and you select them and give them orders, like exploring caves, lighting the ground, fighting mobs, chopping trees, building structures etc, and you can pre-design structures like you can in Spore.
Resources could be Wood, Stone, Iron, and Rares (Gold, Diamand, Redstone)

I'm afraid I can't see any RTS elements in minecraft. Currently there is only one side, the pigmen. The pigmen are the only one I could see working together building buildings and gathering an army. But who would they fight? Creepers?
There is also the issue of resource gathering. As most resources are found under ground in different levels in minecraft then resource gathering should work this way in a RTS as well. Maybe you just randomly place resource gathering structures on the ground and the workers digs down so that you first only get cobblestone and then a slightly higher chance of getting other ores the longer the workers are working?
Pigmen versus steves. Nether versus overworld. Good versus.. ehm.. Steves
I was thinking just keep the RTS sandbox, rather than competing against other species. But with the addition of NPC villages, and perhaps pigman, and maybe the need for a goal in the game, perhaps that would be pretty neat.

Yeah but the reason I'm posting it up here is for public opinion. Should this be moved somewhere else?
