I heard somewhere that soon there will be bosses in Minecraft. This is a nice opputunity to vomit up some random ideas that plop into my head. WARNING WALL OF TEXT AHEAD
First one is:
Boss Pelts
Something a boss drops after successfully dying horribly. It's massive and covers 4 by 4 walls or bigger based on how big the boss is. Now these things are great decorations for your house, and make you feel accomplished, and show off it to your friends in SMP (as long as you didn't hack the thing in, which is pathetic.) I've been thinking of ways you could prove you actually defeated the boss and not hacked a pelt in, one of my ideas was: Titles. Titles are little letters under your name plate only showing when someone points at you (like in Source games, when you point at someone, it shows their name.) For example, when you defeat the spider boss, you get the title "King of Spiders" or something. Creeper boss is "Creeper Tamer". These will be a nice way to show off in SMP, and also showing people you're not a cheating loser. Then again, you can kill the bosses WITH cheats, I don't know how to solve that. Another thing you can make out of pelts is:
Boss Weapons, Tools, or Blocks:
When you kill the boss, you don't have to put a big pelt on your wall, you can also make weapons out of it. For different species of bosses, you get an extra damage bonus to the different species you made a weapon out of. For example, Spider Boss Sword (x2 damage to spiders) etc. You can also make tools. Example, Zombie Boss pickaxe (on single hit on any ore or stone, it starts to break for you but you can only decay 3 blocks at a time) etc.
Also, you can make blocks (think the wolf block from Better Than Wolves mod) out of different bosses, to build things. Ex, you can climb spider pelt blocks or creeper blocks have maxed out blast resistance.
These seem really silly, but they might be really useful and fun :smile.gif:
The titles idea is a good one, and I'd love to see something similar to it implemented at some point. The rest however... Just doesn't feel Minecraft-y to me.
