We hear every day about new 1.8 updates. For some, we are very excited to see the new game that we will be playing. Others sometimes worry about the new features such as sprinting, critical hits, experience, and hunger, to name a few, that will forever change the game into something very different. Some of these are rumored to be togglable-but even if a few are the majority of changes will leave behind the game that Minecraft once was, and some people will be sad about it.
One of the biggest mistakes games can make is erasing any sort of nostalgic value that people are going to miss, and to completely change your game from a point that it once was. Minecraft shouldn't make this mistake and should retain pre-1.8 survival along with it.
Things that should be kept are:
-The map generator for all of our old seeds and to give us the geographical feel of the old Minecraft.
-The new features like sprinting and critical hits should be togglable as well. This will retain the unique combat feel we have as of now, which will be greatly changed into something a lot more powerful in 1.8, something some of us may not like. Hunger and experience should also be toggleable
-The old passive mob spawn should be available.
-All else, new items or enemies can still fit into the game because they don't change the mechanics of play but rather the things you can do with it.
That's all. It may sound counterproductive to have new features toggleable. But in truth it's just helping to retain the feel of this Minecraft that we don't want to lose.
I like how 1.8 is going to be, it's going to change the game we once knew.. with all the ideas that Mojang put together to make minecraft more.. let's say "better"..... I don't get why alot of people are going to stay with 1.7 or something really weird like that... once 1.8 comes out i not going to back to any of the beta's well when 1.9 comes out i will get that, even the update in november i getting them because it will change our minecraft world... for the people who don't want it just try it...
If you don't want to play 1.8, at all, just keep a backup of 1.7, or download MCNostalgia.

I agree.
@ OP
Minecraft is a game in progress. You need to expect changes, whether you like them or not. If you want to keep 1.7 or earlier, you should make backups of your .minecraft folders. it isn't that hard.
Why do we not just make everything in the Adventure Update (Instead of rivers and stuff) into adventure MODE?!
Because adventure mode is supposed to be something different.

Downgrade minecraft. Problem solved.
Also, nastalgia is something you have for something that is gone. You can't have nastalgia for something that you have right now. And nastalgia is very often unrealistic. Most of the time you make things better than they actually are. Deal with it.
First people complain about no updates, then people say he's adding too much (this thread and 1 I have seen before this), then people can't wait for it to come out, and throughout all that people complain about endermen.
SHUT THE **** UP PEOPLE.
While ^this^ does not necessarily apply to you, you are still a part of the aforementioned group.
More on-topic, this is a pointless idea. You want pre-1.8 maps? Don't delete your old ones. You don't want sprinting? No one said you have to use it. Etc,etc. Alternatively, download MCNostalgia. If you can't handle anything above, don't play minecraft. If you can't stand not playing minecraft but also can't handle anything above, bash your head in. If you can't do that, I'm sure someone will be happy to oblige.
Have I made my point clear? Things change, learn to deal with it instead of being a nuisance (nuisance applying to all but suggestion threads, of course)
