NOTE Before I get trolled like there is no tomorrow, let me just say, im sure this has been thought of by many: But im added a few other little ideas in that make it not so common.
NOTE Sorry about the many typos, and how its kind of unorganized. i typed this really fast and was in a big rush. If anything is unclear please just post and let me know.
NOTE Please post any other ideas you have, and if i should add anything!
NOTE I understand Minecraft may not be able to take all of this. My plan is to have this in final version, when the lag can be reduced. In fact, its my understanding there will be a big lag removal via better lighting system with 1.8....
NOTE Please keep posting so this can be seen by all, moer ideas get posted, and more ideas spring up so Notch can see it, and maybe thesee ideas can be put in :smile.gif:

MULTIPLAYER
Ok, i really think there should be more changes to the server system. Like, seriously. You need an IP adress and all that. That can be complicated for some people, not many but some. But even for smart people, creating a server can be a pian. And you can only have more then one, That bothers me. I think it could be more like this:
When you press multiplayer, there could be multiple buttons:
A "Create Server" button. To easly xreate servers.
A "Find A Server" button. To find and join a server.
A "Your Servers" button. Shows servers you have created.
A "Favorite" button. Lists servers you favorited. Can not favorite your own server.
A "Back" button (Of Course.)
Multiplayer > Create Server
You will find a text bar, where you put in the name. Then there will be a button like the ones in the ptions. You click it and what it says changes. They are:
Game Mode: Options are "Create","Survival","Check It Out!"and "Adventure." (This is obviously gonna be added after 1.8)
Difficulty: "Peaceful","Easy","Normal","Hard"
The Check It Out mode is the only name i can think of at the moment, but its basically meant for showing off your creation so the servers dont get spammed with crap like this.
And then a rule checklist. There will be the rules caption, then have a checklist under it. This can be, well, rules. Like "Can not break blocks.","Flying Disabled." Stuff like that.
Of course, some of these will be disabled depending on what game mode or difficulty your on.
Lastly, there will be a "Create" button. Thats it.
After you create it though, if you go back to the join screen under the "your servers" page (Read On) you will see an optons which allows you to toggle the rules and things like that. It will also toggle whether you want to toggle who can alwasy join or never join. (Read on)
Multiplayer > Find A Server
Two buttons:
"Quick Search"
"Advanced Search"
Multiplayer > Find A Server > Quick Search
Simply shows a page of servers, and at the bottom of them a more button if there isnt one you like. In the list it will show the names, mode, difficulty, and rules checked off.
Multiplayer > Find A Server > Advanced Search
Basically you see the create a server screen. Except, a username bar is added. But instead of the create button there is a search button. Unlike the create mode, you can leave all the fields blank or unched except for the buttons. And for the buttons there is a "Any" button which will list them all. If you basically go with a blank name, blank username. no rules checked, and both buttons on "Any" it results just like a quick search would.
If you do tone everything your liking though, in the list you would see are only ones that match your search.
Now then. No matter which search option you try to do, there will be a confirm page once you select the server. On this page, it will show the name, rules, username, difficulty, and game mode. There will be a favoritebutton, wich shows it in your favorites. There will be a join button at the bottom, along with a cancel. The cancel brings you back to the list, but the join button brings you to a screen that says "Asking to join." the creator of the server gets an on screen message asking if you can join. If he says no, it will say "Request Denied." if you are accepted, you will join the server. But if your the creator, once you make your choice, it will ask if you want to always do this. The buttons are "Yes","No", and "It Doesnt Matter." So if he chose no, and yes. That means you can never join unless he toggles it in the options. The it doesnt matter option just makes it to where you have to approve again if the person tries joining.
To join for the first time though, the person has to be in server. But if you can "Always Join" you can join even if the creator isnt in server.
Multiplayer > My Servers
A page like the confirm page for joining a server. it lists the server information, a join button, and an options button which i mentioned in the Find A Server section. You can either Join or Cancel. If you have multiple servers, a list, then the confirm screen with the options.
Multiplayer > Favorites
A page just like the my servers page. The confirm page, but no options page. Instead, a favorite button which toggles if its in your favorites. If you have multiple favorites, a list.
Custom Maps
Custom maps are complicated to add, at least some people think so. I think that this will be on the main menu along with the singleplayer, multiplayer, options, and texture pack folder. There is basically two buttons:
A "Upload a map" button where you choose the single player world to upload. Then select the rules. it will be formatted like the find a server list. Username, name, rules, difficulty.
A "Download a map" button where you find two more buttons. Quick and advanced search. Quick is the same as server finding. With advanced, you select the rules, name, difficulty, basically what you would do to create or find a server. Except no game mode option. Then press the download button, see the confirm screen, download it. This can be used to edit the map in case you wanna make it better. Plus once you download it the rules no longer apply, break as many blocks as you want.
and a "Play a map" button where you basically do the search process again, and see the map list, and confirm screen. But you play the map instead. No editing whatsoever.
Texture Packs
This is like custom amps, people can find it confusing. In the normal texture pack button, there will be your texture packs that are downloaded, and new buttons:
An "Upload a texture pack" button which opens up the texture pack folder and you upload it.
A "Find a texture pack" button where you can do quick or advanced. Quick is same as the first 2 sections, but advanced you only type in name and username. In the list though, there is a button where you can see screenshots of the pack itself. Once you select one, the confirm screen. Then a download button. And it appears on the list.
It Could be nice, but then (this is server owner perspective) It would be a bit harder for custom servers to upload information about that server to Notch's server, I also don't think there should be the Host a server option, because most people don't have good rigs that are able to host and play without any lag (with reasonable traffic), It's a good idea, and honestly when i first came to Minecraft I kinda expected that, but then again, You are relying on Mojang's unreliable servers again.
You do realise tis is an epic idea, unfortunatly its not posible as
1. Public servers are unreliable
2. it woudl cause a flood of "Spam" servers in which every noob wants to make his own server and show off his "Fancy" creation, this results in a flooding of the server creating massive lag, and also it floods out all the real servers with achual stuff to show :sad.gif:

I do understand what you guys are saying, and i probably shou;ld have mentioned this should be added once the game is near completion, or at least close to it. Once some of the lag has died due to better systems. In fact, doesnt 1.8 have something with the lighting to make it leg lass?
And as far as the noob servers, as someone put it. I never even thought about that. Well, maybe there could be moderators who are allowed to enter every server, and jus t make suer its all good. But thanks for the support, and comtinue updating, and approving.
On the modding idea the problem would probably be fixed if a mod or admin would have to aprove it, so if it says something like "comr chej otu ym aweome serber!" they will reject it straight out as the title is crap, also they will check out the inside of the server too to see whats going on n such, also if servers are inactive for a while maybe they could be removed, like if its inactive for 30 days it is deleated, enless before hand you put in something like "Thacation Mode" which shuts down the server for however long you put
Only quite high-end computers will be able to host more than one server. Which is about, let's say, 5% of the Minecraft playing population? So "My Servers" and "Create a Server" are more or less useless, since "Create a Server" will only ever be used a few times (Besides, double clicking minecraft_server.exe works too) and "My Servers only has one, so the server console as is suffices. You can add your ideas to the console though, to make it easier to use.
Server GUI is semi-planned-speculated-ish; check the 1.8 Discoveries thread. It's (hopefully) basically a list of servers to join.
The Custom Maps thing will be flooded with crap in about 5 seconds. So, no.
We already have a texture pack list. It's right here on the forum. And downloading then copy-pasting isn't that hard.
TL:DR
The only really useful thing you suggested is Find-A-Server and Favorites, which may be implemented in the future according to the 1.8 Discoveries thread. Everything else is somewhat, if not completely, useless.

1 server gets very inconvienent for me. Plus this will be a much easier option. Even if you can only make one, i would still prefer it to have it easy as i put. And you need to realize, you wouldnt be doing the same steps. Your servers would be on the itnernet. Not your computer.
