When Notch implemented the piston mod, he did a very nice fine tune to the piston and the sticky piston addition. Both were well made!
But remember the good old piston mod? That thing was fun wasn't it? Although I'll admit, it was a bit much as far as it's launching abilities go. I personally think it'd make a great addition to the piston group.
The whole purpose of this kind of piston is to launch the player, launch items, and launch blocks.
This won't be AS powerful as the piston mod.
It will have two main uses. One when facing up. The other when facing in any other direction.
Crafting Table for the Powered Piston (The red shroom = redstone):
Here's how it works when facing up:
- Players and Items
When a player stands on a powered piston, it will send them about four blocks high in the air. Players will take any falling damage.
-Gravity Blocks
Blocks like sand and gravel will be shot up in the air about the same height.
-Normal Blocks (pushable)
Normal blocks pushed up by this piston will be no different than normal pistons.
Here's how it works when facing any other direction:
- Players and Items
Players and Items will pushed in that direction at a very high velocity. This could be useful for getting across large gaps.
-All Pushable Blocks
Blocks will be sent in that direction up to 16 blocks far until it collides with another block.
So if I pushed a cobblestone block towards a tree that is 4 blocks away, the cobblestone would stop at that tree. It would only move the log if it were directly in front of the piston, or blocks lined up and forced it to be pushed (just like a normal piston).
-Obsidian can be pushed by one block with this piston. (possibly! give me your
ideas on this. I think it would work since diamond is required to mine obsidian.)
That's all I have. Thanks for reading! Please, positive feedback. If you know anyway to help improve this idea, please do so! :smile.gif:
@Sirolf, do you have any ideas for a new recipe perhaps? I think diamond is quite frequent to come by after some time and you have so much you don't know what to do with. I think this might help. If not, we could always use gold ingots.
Also, I somewhat agree with you. I want to wait to hear what more people have to say before I change that though.
