So, this was a fairly simple idea I had a few moments ago, but like most of those, I think it is a pretty good idea. Basically, in addition to selecting Peaceful-Hard mode, you can select a level of...erm...terror. For example, the lowest setting would disable Enderman (the only thing I've come up with so far), and the highest would have them spawn in all their glory.
...as you probably guessed, this suggestion came after reading about the Endermen a little; the end goal being to spare myself the trouble of buying a new pair of underwear every time I play Minecraft.
Feedback? Suggestions (other things the selection could do)? Replies would be appreciated.
Another thing that would change the difficulty of the game would be the ability to set the hardness of blocks. Not everything needs to be combat related to be hard, just making all blocks take twice as long to break would make the game a lot harder.
It would of course take longer to dig a mine, but it would also be harder to dig your way out of harms way. Like digging yourself out from gravel/sand that have fallen over your before you suffocate, or quickly digging a step so you can escape the creeper that is running after you.
This would also make it harder to build stuff since every mistake you do will take longer to clear up.
