EXP Bar and Skill points
As included in the 1.8 update and shown in PAX, There will be experience orbs and and a experience bar, as well as Skill points, At the moment Mojang is adding skills and figuring out what purpose the skill points have. With this 1.8 update I came up with a amazing idea.
My Magic Idea
Since Magic is wanted by most rpg players, I came up with an idea that could be useful and balanced in the game, A item (Not sure which item) can perform magical attacks and actions. To keep it balanced, I thought of cooldown system and Spell intrupting system. These spells could have their own casting time, the stronger spells, the longer it takes to cast and longer cooldown. Also, While preparing the spell, you can NOT move until the spell is prepared for performing, then you are free to move around. When that spell is prepared, you can NOT switch weapons and you can cast it while moving. For the tiered items for magic, it can reduce the cooldown of certain or all spells and increase the speed of preparing the spell(s). Well, we all know, In RPG games, you need mana to perform spells, well, the answer is dungeons and ruins, you could find teh ruin for a church or a wizard tower and gain a book (I'll get into details later in "Skills" catergory) as well as a mana extension, and these mana extensions can give you a "heart" worth of mana. Many of you may also ask, What if a mob hits you, Well, receive the spells cool down, but, you won't be able to cast it.
Skill Point ideas
Since you will need to "learn" the spell first, you will need to dedicate skill points to the "magic" category of the Skills Tree(Skills will branch off depending on what "type" of spells you would want to learn). Powerful and rare spells will need a higher tier wand, additional items and a "Old Book" item to learn. Once you learn a spell you can "upgrade" the spell to do more damage or a large radius, etc at a cost of a skill point or multiple skill points.
Well, That's my idea! Also, I'm not good at spelling so WILL be spelling mistakes. Feel free to ask questions and maybe we can implement this in Minecraft 1.9 or something. :smile.gif:
