So this thread is mainly about enhancing the forests of minecraft.
Of course, forests are made up of trees. Let's start with those:
Willow Tree: Pretty much like a regular tree, but wih different textured leaves, and maybe a darker wood. Need to be within 4 blocks of water, but the water doesn't have to be on the same level.
Cherry Blossom: Dark wood, pink leaves. Pretty much everything you would suspect.
Palm Trees: Found in deserts, usually around small lakes.
Cocoanut trees: Similar to the palm trees, but found on coasts. Can be harvested for cocoabeans.
Banana Trees: Once again, usuing the palm tree shap.Found in rainforests. Maybe they can harvest bananas? Doesn't matter to me that much.
Other types of plant life:
More flowers: Although I am sure this has been suggested before, I would like it in my topic, as it goes with the others. Adding the blue flowers would be nice, even though they are only for a bug fix in Pocketcraft. Maybe the purple and white flowers of the aether? I think that red and yellow just get boring after a while.
Vines/Ivy: In places with high moisture and temperate+ tempeture, I think that vinces would be a nice little addition. They grow in certain biomes between leaves and wood and will grow to the ground. When they get to the ground, they turn into ivy. The ivy spreads as well, but it's limied to the biome. This would make some biomes appear like actual rainforests and not just dense temperate ones. Also when next to tree's they could possibly turn into something similar to the painterly pack vines?
New Mobs:
Bunny: Using the model of the aerbunny from the Aether pack, but a warmer, browner, color.
They can be domesticated by feeding them wheat. 2-4 hearts, passive, and cute. Uses: None really, other than adding more life to the game. Have a few variants:
Snow bunnies: White, spawn on snow.
Regular bunnies: Brownish, spawn on grass.
Night bunnies: Black, spawn on grass in darkness (still passive.)
Don't drop anything. (Why would you kill a cute little bunny anyways?
Tiger: These are interesting. They are passive, with as many hearts as we have, and will not attack if at full health. However, if they are injured, whether or not it's by you, they will attack you (This happens in real life. Tigers usually hunt deer, and won't hurt you unless they feel you are threatening them. However, if they are wounded, they can't hunt their regular prey, and will hunt humans.*)
The ducks and birds from mo' creatures.
Owls: Hunt mice. Spawn at night, sleep during the morning. Come in:
Great horned, snowy, barn, and black.
*Do not try to go pet a tiger in real life just because it isn't hurt.
I think these mobs, plants, and trees would add more fun into exploring the otherwise indistinct forests (I acknoledge that I go a little off into other biomes.)
Actually I thought the title sounded promising... but the content was boring.
The vines idea is interesting but the rest of the post seems to be just 'add more stuff' which doesn't really serve a purpose.
Sure, more mobs would be nice, but seem a little bit uneccessary in Vanilla.
Well, I am not suggesting them for a purpose. Purposes are almost always debated, so I wanted suggestions. For example making tigers domesticatable. I would love that, but I wanted to see what everyone else thought. I find that nature is rather bland. Some trees, grass, and 2 different types of flowers, and a barnyard animal or two, or an occasional pack of wolves.
Okay, but suggesting a few basic reasons for things can't hurt. Butterflies could drop dyes corresponding to their wing colour or cause flowers to multiply. Tigers could be tameable like you said (awesome) and new trees would have fruit on them which will help you out once 1.8 comes out and you need to eat to avoid dying.
Feel free to take those suggestions or ignore them, but I think you will get a more positive response if you 'justify' Notch taking time to add them to the game.
That's what I wanted! You people suggesting purposes!
I love the idea of butterflies dropping dye. Tigers could be tameable, and possibly better versions of wolves? Maybe make them ridable. Maybe add appletrees, an idea suggested over and over on these forums.
what if:
Butterflies will spawn near flowers. They will visit the flower, and then fly to a nearby flatgrass, and have a 25% chance of producing a new flower.

Fennec Fox:
One of my threads about it here:

Cats, bats, and mice(Not rats? I thought there was something going on there):

^I prefer those cat models and mice models over mo' creatures.
How ever I prefer mo' creatures actual mob behaviors.

I want these added into the real game.
I feel that the reason this is getting littyle traffic is because of a boring title.
