The main idea of this mod is to add a couple more uses, and items, all based around the Furnace.
New Functions and Items
One new function would be able to Shift and click the newly smelted item, and you would automatically get it in your inventory.
Another new function for the furnace would be to 'Incinerate'. You would select Incineration mode in the GUI and put any item or junk in and then put in the coal or any fuel and it would destroy it. Since it is just burning it, it would go 2x faster than when smelting, so you can get rid of un-wanted junk.
Crude Iron
Once you are done incinerating your items, there is a small 5 percent chance that you can get the item "Crude Iron". It appears as a darker iron ingot. It has the strength of what in between iron and stone would have. You can do anything with these that you do with normal iron, except they won't mine diamonds or redstone or other blocks that need iron and above.
The Weld Feature
In the Furnace GUI there would also be a weld feature. When using the weld feature, instead of having one upper box it has 2, so it looks like this:
For this feature you put a damaged piece of armor or a tool in to the left or right upper slot, and in the empty upper slot you put the corresponding ore. Of course you put coal or any fuel in the bottom. This cannot be done with wood. Depending how damaged your tool or armor is it could take up to 2 ingots for an almost red-barred iron pick or it could take 6 ingots for an almost red-barred piece of chest armor!
Crafting Table- The Main Idea
The main idea is to put some more logic into the crafting table.
The New Function
The new function when crafting new items would be that if you hold shift when picking up the new crafting item it would automatically put the item into your inventory, and if you hold shift when making a stackable item and hold shift when you first start making it you could 'Make All' of them at once which would save all of the repeated clicking.
Also when crafting things, you should be able to see a history of 'Previously crafted items:' and then be able to choose one, and it would take all the necessary items from your inventory to the crafting table and all you would have to do is make em'.
The Bed The Main Idea
The bed should do slightly more than just let you sleep into the square moon. I'm thinking that the bed should allow you to sleep whenever but when in daytime you can only take 3 minecraft hour naps, but you would wake up at sunrise when you sleep at night. You cannot sleep until you wait 3 more minecraft hours after the last time you slept so people don't continuously sleep. While sleeping, if you are smelting something or growing some trees/crops they will grow but they will grow only half as much as they would if you were awake just to add some balance.
The Pillow
The bed itself is a great item to have, but what about a pillow. The pillow will heal 5 hearts when you sleep at night and if you nap you gain 3 hearts if you are sleeping on a bed with a pillow on it of course.. It won't fully allow you to heal but you will heal some.
I like the ash idea, I've been hoping glass would eventually become renewable, and ash blocks would make a new material that could work great for ascetics.
Crude Iron seems like a nice addition as well, as it would be difficult and time consuming to get. It's renewable, so it can be commonly used, but slow to make, and therefore does not make stone obsolete, but normal iron should still be required for higher level ores.
I don't see much use for the weld furnace when you could rebuild the tool/armor for the same material cost.
The portable stove also does not seem very useful, It's not hard to just dig a room out of a cave wall and seal the entrance to get safty in a cave, and to also build a furnace form the stone aquired from digging the room, and coal can easily be found in the cave. However, if it's faster than the normal furnace than I can see some good purpose to it.
It would need to be balanced a bit, possibly 3 times fuel cost and double speed, because otherwise regular furnaces would never be used if you can get triple speed for the same cost.

Warning: It is always a possibility this user is talking out of his ass.

and the ash seems like a pain, netherrack is easier to obtain
you can replace the lava with fiery netherrack

This should be a crafting recipe.
I like the welder idea, but maybe these features should be made available by putting two furnaces together?
