This would be something similar to what Garry's Mod has for downloading content for it from inside the game. A player could upload a world from the client, adding a description and screenshots to it. Then, someone else could find that world in a list of worlds uploaded by other players. To make this really epic, the idea could even be expanded to an in-game texture pack editor to create, share, and download texture packs from within the client.
It's an interesting idea, but could easily get screwed up by the huge amounts of mods that people use. What's more, this would either require direct connections to each other, which would only work when the person who has the map is online (think p2p), or if they were uploaded to Mojang's server. And why make Mojang get a bunch more server space when we can just use these forums for the screenshots and description and sites like Rapidshare for the world?

A way to solve such issues would be to implment a GUI for this and have the client able to connect to services designed for this. Then thrid-parties could take care of the server connections and what not.
