One thing I've wanted to see in Minecraft for a long time is unique textures, for all blocks, for the top, sides, and bottom. Grass, wood, sandstone, and pumpkins have this already, but I think it would enable texture packers to make much more appealing packs, and give Minecraft a more polished feel. Also because I want to have a Link's Awakening texture pack that works better with the cake-layer mountains, but this would be helpful for so many other texture packs too, I'm sure.

I dont really think being able to change all 6 sides of every block-type would be very good for the games performance... might be wrong about that.. But if you could change the top and the sides of, say, dirt, stone, and sand, it would be...nice. I like the idea : )

Please stop crying. I can't interrogate you while you're crying.
I'm a texturepack creator, and even though this opens more opportunities, this seems like it's going to get really annoying for creators.

I'm not saying every side needs to be unique. I mean the way grass blocks are now. The top uses one texture, the sides (all four) use another, single texture, and the bottom uses a third texture. Don't get me wrong, having six different textures for each face of a block would be awesome, but totally unrealistic for multiple reasons. If it was done this way, text pack authors would just have to copy-paste if they didn't want to utilize the feature, or go through the trouble of making new graphics.
Right now, if this were done, the resolution of the terrain.png file would probably still be the same. If not, it'll be a necessary change anyway at some point down the road, if new blocks keep being added, so it doesn't matter anyway.

You mean almost hextupled? :tongue.gif:
If you want to make every texture pack developer out there really annoyed (not really), then sure.
I've never had a problem with it though.
